Jun. 8th, 2025 04:56 amHaving noticed Paula's hair almost blend in with the floor in the gold mine, I did consider yesterday, making a point to create a lighter brown for her as well, based on Mai from Makeruna! Makendou (my main userpic), just to showcase the actual range of shades that appeal to me. Another part of that also comes from Honoka from The Honor Student at Magic High School, which I started re-reading when we drove to Brian's for Maris' birthday, and Akatsuki from My Stepmom's Daughter is My Ex, which I've discovered in passing not too long ago.
Having thought about it, though, I could easily end up from there creating much more than dark-brown and light-brown, using multiple different characters equivalently to paint chips. I already had been planning to recommend two different shades of brown for Natalie in Epic Battle Fantasy 4, since her hair appears orange in cutscenes and more crimson on her field and battle graphics. However, a full range to include, say, War Nurse, would likely be best reserved for Disgaea, where each game has multiple character classes lacking a brunette tier. Here, too many choices could end up barely distinguishable from one another.
Maybe four, as the number of screenshots allowed on onsite content pages on ROMhack.ing. (No more than twelve if I decide to go further.)
