dmxratedYesterday after work, I gave Brett a call for the first time in a while. He told me that he would've called me first if life for him hadn't been so hectic. Of course, things are easing up for both of us thanks to Thanksgiving break. I told him that I've been playing Pokemon Red recently, and that I'm almost done with it, and I also told him about my new online friend Jake.
Anyway, I just beat the Elite Four and Gary last night. I remember getting Red for Christmas when I was in 8th Grade. Brian got Pokemon Blue the same Christmas, but only he ever beat his version before. The farthest I ever got to was Cinnabar Island (from Pallet Town, not Seafoam Island). So six years have elapsed between the time I got it and when I actually won the game.
The first time I challenged the E4, I had Ivysaur, a Snorlax, a Gastly, a Raticate, Omanyte, and Aerodactyl, but it proved much too difficult to beat Gary with that team, so I had to lose and start over. I traded Raticate, Omanyte, and Aerodactyl off for Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres, and that made things all the much easier. Along the way, Gastly learned Dream Eater while forgetting Lick, so I finally let him evolve into Haunter, and Zapdos leveled up for the first time and learned Thunder. I had to let Haunter die while fighting Gary's Alakazam, though, but I revived him while fighting Gyarados, which Zapdos fought against without trouble. I put Snorlax into the fray when Gary sent out Charizard, since he's the one I taught Surf to, but making the fight much easier for me, that stupid idiot used Rage, creating me the perfect opportunity to let Haunter finish the fight (good thing, because Haunter was the least experienced Pokemon in my roster).
So now all that's left is to raid the Unknown Dungeon and bring Mewtwo a present, and then after that, if I feel like it, buy Pokemon Stadium off of Ebay.
