If I ever will continue playing this game again, it will most likely be if I ever get so fluent in Japanese that I can read it like English. Honestly, how can you give a damn what everyone says if you have to look up a Kanji dictionary for everything, and can just play through the game anyway? If I do play it again, I'll probably erase everything on my game like I do whenever I decide to come back to Sonic Adventure 2: Battle. I am supposedly due to take a Japanese class in Stonybrook University after I graduate from Dowling, but until then, I suppose I could take Kanji quizzes online if there are any. As far as a translation patch goes, I'm actually hoping that that waits until someone dumps a non-glitched ROM version of this game online.

Did I just mention a glitch in the ROM version? Well, yeah. Avoid the ROM if you have access to and money for a legitimate copy. For whatever reason, it has this glitch where you can't see anybody's eyes or mouths most of the time, which means that you'll be missing out on one of the most important gimmicks it has to offer. Unfortunately, this is the version that most websites, such as MobyGames depict, and there is a gameplay video on YouTube and Myspace each that shows this. THE REAL GAME IS NOT LIKE THAT!!!!! (That screenshot of Meifa shouting at you is not "lucky"; the eyes, mouth, and the rest of the character are all one sprite because no other facial expression fits that pose.)

I don't know about you, but even though it's at least playable (unlike "invisible Primal Rage" on the Sega 32X), that alone is enough to ruin the experience for me. The only other two Nintendo 64 games I've ever played as ROMs were Goldeneye 007 (which kept freezing up) and Wonder Project J2 (which was glitchy around the edges of the screen, but at least that's better than missing an important part of anything). I barely know the first thing about ROM-dumping, but I do know that anything that lets you do it (such as the Doctor V64) is rare and costs hundreds of dollars. I'll have to ask around how that works, but if I ever start up Retro Savoir, this game will definitely be a goal title of mine.

Moving on, let me present to you:

The Getter Love!! website

It's in Japanese, and not available through Google. I found this through Wikipedia's page about the game, which hardly has any information about it. But, look around anyway. There are lots of nifty pics and stuff you can find that don't actually happen in the game.

Sure would be interesting to read fanfiction about this game, wouldn't it?

Before I wrap this up, here's a non-canon list of voices I'd perceive most of the main cast having if this game had English voice acting:

Ayumi: Brittney Karbowski (voice of Ayu from Kanon)
Natsuki: Brianne Siddall or Michelle Ruff (voices of Rockna from Mon Colle Knights and Saga from A Little Snow Fairy Sugar respectively)
Hana: Julie Ann Taylor (voice of Yui from Lucky Star)
Makoto: Kaitlyn Glass (voice of Kaori from Kanon)
Kiiro: Michelle Ruff (voice of Yuki from The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya. Huh? She and Saga sound nothing alike!)
Shizuku: Maggie Flecknoe (voice of Shiori from Kanon)
Meifa: Hitomi Nabatame (voice of Vivienne from Ultimate Girls)
Reika: Loretta Devine (role of Marla from Boston Public; turns out to be the same person who voiced Muriel from The PJ's.)
Alfonso: Matt Weinhold (voice of Van's initial form from Whacked!)
Kaoru: Whoever sang most of the lyrics for Funky Beat in Ontamarama.

-----

The last song of the Getter Love!! era will be something epic, complete with motion and lyrics! Even though the game in question had a mostly mediocre soundtrack within the main game, this game deserves some kind of attention, since it's the other most important import game of my life!
