Brian and Claire were playing with Mabel after I finished yesterday's blog entry. Needless to say, Mabel was not exactly happy about it, as she doesn't even take kindly to the presence of Brian or Marie, let alone complete strangers. I joined in and picked her up, and then gave her to Claire to hold, and she acted rather roughly in her arms.

Claire also tried dangling one of her shoelaces to play with her. While we were having fun, Mom told us some stuff about our previous cats Sabrina and Neptune.

-----

Later on, Brian and Claire asked me if I would like to go to Montauk Point with them. I accepted their offer. At first, though, I wasn't gonna bother bringing any games, but then again, I didn't really have a whole lot of stuff to have spread out (unlike two years ago), and having not even started with Pokemon SoulSilver yet, decision-making would be minimal enough for me to rely on my watch alone.

So, I brought SoulSilver and my player's guide, along with Contra IV, all three secondary copies of Pokemon Ranger, and volumes 1 and 2 of Japanese in Mangaland.

(Let me tell you, Claire's car sure gets off on a bumpy start each time it gets started up, although it does smooth itself out after a few minutes.)

-----

So anyway, for the ride going to Montauk Point, I ended up only playing Pokemon SoulSilver (and didn't play anything coming back home). Having gotten started, I chose Chikorita as my starting Pokemon. Took care of everything up to delivering the Odd Egg to Professor Elm, and then began leveling up Chikorita on Route 29 (also catching a Pidgey and a Sentret along the way). After it reached Level 8, I asked Brian how much longer it would take to reach our destination. He said 20 minutes, so I tried to register the PokeWalker there, but failed to do so with the car still in motion.

In any case, Chikorita learns PoisonPowder at Level 9, and it would only take four more kills to level up again. So, took care of that, and by the time I was finished, we had stopped at a gas station. Enough of a break for me to send the Pokemon to the PokeWalker.

-----

So, we eventually made it to the point. We ate lunch outside the lighthouse, and then went inside the lighthouse to look around and climb to the top. If there was one thing I could note, I learned that a woman named Giorgina Reid started a 17-year project in 1970 to build some kind of dam around Montauk Point, which would prevent erosion and salvage the lighthouse from collapsing.

I assumed we would go hiking, like we did whenever our family used to go there, but we never did. I did manage to walk more than 1,750 steps, though, which would translate into 85 watts accumulated on my PokeWalker.

-----

Anyway, upon coming home, me, Brian, and Claire each had a slice of cake together, since we forgot to eat said slices while we had lunch. I then had a nap, walked around outside when I woke up, and then got back to the PokeWalker. For the first time using the Walker, I managed to get my hands on a Paras and an Energy Powder. However, I ended up wasting the 48 watts I had left over when I brought Chikorita back into the game, because I assumed that the PokeWalker would save my watts up. Turns out it doesn't; only steps are saved.

So, Pidgey was next to be brought to the PokeWalker. I jogged a number of laps up and down Masem Court to build up more than 250 watts. For this round, I managed to get two Energy Powders, a Revive, a Bellsprout, and a Venonat. This time, 200 watts went to waste because I was hoping to unlock Rugged Road and Beautiful Beach. Only the former was unlocked, so there's another thing to keep in mind.

In any case, from now on, the PokeWalker will be the Johto equivalent to the Underground in DPP. Both will serve mainly to pass the time when I'm gonna be waiting for hours for something (such as if certain un-owned Pokemon only come out at night).

Brian and Claire have gone back last night. I was already in bed by the time they were leaving.

I also made a new index card listing stuff that needs to be taken care of during these days. That includes stuff I have promised Jake, and continuing to copy my RP with Chelle to the hard drive and fixing up certain parts before hosting it on this blog.
