Received disk 2 of Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha and disk 1 of Nanaka 6/17 yesterday. Watched the first episode on each disk, and the latter did pass thus far. Was planning on commenting on it this next morning, but then I read on TV Tropes that it, too, involves female-on-male abuse. Made a list of titles that I recall having absolutely nothing from any male characters that rarely apply to female characters or male-on-female. Managed to list barely over 20, even including a few games and manga, and thinking about it some more, a few of them actually do play into anti-male double standards of some sort or another. Don't get me started on anything in particular.

For an entry like this, I normally would use Kagami, but at this point, I'm feeling too brain-dead to be frustrated. Don't want to be a stickler and say that a given work cannot have any male-bashing whatsoever. It's not like the Bechdel Test states that the three criteria must hold true for an entire film in order for it to pass, or else Alien wouldn't be the trope codifier, given how briefly they actually are true in that one.

At this point, though, I don't feel like watching anything at all for a while longer, not even Amazing Nurse Nanako, which happens to be an epic reversal of all this. I've put my Netflix account back on hold, and since that takes effect on October 1, I will be sending back what I currently have out no more than a week later, so that I don't receive anything else still in my queue. For Christmas this year, I already have two non-anime things on mind I'd like, so whether or not Mom decides to buy me any DVDs or not, I honestly don't care, nor do I care what she gets if she decides to get anything, even if it's something that either I already have watched, I know I'm not gonna like, was never dubbed, or any combination thereof.
