Oct. 10th, 2013 06:32 amLast night, Mom was telling Brian about the shutdown of the government since last week. I overheard, and thought she was saying that it collapsed like Germany's Third Reich at the end of World War II or the Soviet Union in 1991. Upon looking it up on my computer while she looked for a certain article on Facebook on our main computer, it turns out that this has happened before, and it only means that governmental services such as tax-funded museums and national parks are being closed down for the time being, among other things.
Also turns out that the longest shutdown in the history of this country lasted from December 16, 1995 to January 6, 1996. That just so happens to be the time period during which I got my Super NES for Christmas.
