Received volume 9 of the Lucky Star manga in the mail yesterday. Mom bought that and 10 as an intended Christmas gift for me this year, but did tell me that they'd be late, since they were coming from Japan. (Already got 10 this past New Year's Eve.)

Gonna start translating them after I finish The Japanese Stage-Step Course, whenever I get back to that.

Tried my hand yesterday at creating some mugshots for each character from Lucky Star. Decided that, since Brian is still unavailable to help me (and hadn't shown up even for last night's gmail meeting, probably to unwind from traveling to Virginia), I might as well do something that will contribute to the Starbound game.

For the record, the programming aspect is still more important than designing things. I could commission someone for any kind of graphics, expensive as it may be, but I myself need to be in charge of making sure everything works the way I intend it to.

Most likely, I'm just gonna try these next couple of days creating some basic mugshots for everyone, and then let Chelle create modified versions of each of them while I (hopefully) get back to learning JavaScript. Compared to stuff she's photoshopped for me before, these should hopefully be easier for her to work with, since they will be more pixelated once I scale them down.

Who ever told you that small pixelated stuff is easier to work with? Pixel art is a special brand of digital art, and I don't have expertise in it.

That was just an assumption. I'm pretty sure modifying the images I asked you to photoshop and making them look "authentic" obviously would've required you to study how each part of the image (such as the lines and lighting in their hair) are arranged, which would naturally require zooming in and seeing how individual pixels are arranged for each aspect.

Well, I could just as easily give you the default images to work with, if you'd find that easier.

Dealing with pixels is a lot less difficult when the image is bigger and I can focus straight on the colors. My own drawings I all do in sizes of at least 4000 pixels wide, for maximum non-pixely look, and even that requires zooming in. The bigger an image you can send me, the better (unless it's at 10000 pixels wide, that's overkill). Also, send it in the .xcf file you worked in, not anything else, so compression doesn't apply.

Perfect. Wasn't able to convert it to .jpg anyway, and originally thought that I would've had to in order to send something.
