Went with my parents and Marie on the catboat yesterday afternoon. Each of us had egg-bacon-lettuce-and-cheese sandwiches for dinner (I didn't have eggs in mine), and Mom also brought a few eclairs and pieces of carrot cake as dessert for Marie's birthday.

From 1:54 A.M. last Tuesday:

The aforementioned point I'd like to bring up, is about my issues with all and only the main four of Lucky Star canon suffering so badly (or at least the worst out of anyone else involved). This is actually something Jake sorta questioned when I alerted him about my list-post, and it applies to all kinds of character-groupings, unless it's the entire point of the characters in question (such as the decidedly-mentally-unstable EVA pilots in Neon Genesis Evangelion).

This nude-pic and this fat-pic of the Beehive Brigade are the main reasons why I decided months ago that, should I ever look into creating a game about them, it will probably be about them as a few of the most oppressed members of a dystopian society that they are appointed to fight against, as opposed to, say, a team of magical soldiers who protect humanity. The kind of blatant humiliation depicted in the latter image, or that episode of The Simpsons where Homer and Marge wind up in a football field completely nude after desperately trying to avoid being seen that way, are not things I'd want happening to Lucky Star's main four, or to Mondo and Rokuna from Mon Colle Knights, or to Shiori and Kaori Misaka from Kanon, or... well, get what I'm saying?

That is, unless either one or more respective person is absent from the situation, or there are others that aren't normally part of the group but going through the same thing, or, like I said above, it's one of the group's entire points in canon.

Regarding the fic, though, I don't think that's gonna be the case. Even though the description said "four ordinary high school girls", it's not likely that those boys, given their personalities, are gonna be any nicer to Yutaka (whom they already have captive) or Minami (who is also clearly a target, given her dog's fate courtesy of Satoshi).

But anyway, is that some kind of autistic quirk, or are there others who also feel the same way?

Two days later, it had occurred to me to ask Chelle why, despite what I described in the cut, I happened to be quite fond of something I myself once commissioned for, depicting the all five Inner Sailor Senshi completely nude, embarrassed, and with their hair updone (not in any actual setting, though). In a nutshell, she explained that different parts of the brain do tend to have conflicting interests every now and then, and this would be a case of the fetishistic part of my brain conflicting with the part responsible for empathy and compassion. I asked why the latter is more active when the context involves, in my words, "exact groups, couples, duos, trios, etc., than to individuals, groups with at least one individual not classified with the others, groups minus one or more of its classified individuals, or even half a school's entire population." Her reply to that was as follows (hard and seemingly redundant for me to reword myself):

That might relate to autism and pattern depency : it's easier to form a new scenario for something now, and something you already have a scenario for. If you classify characters as groups to begin with because that's the way any given canon presents it to you, you already have that formed. Any deviation to the combo would be a new scenario to formulate for, but anything bad happening to existing one could be a violation of the expected scenario.

Well, that covers that at least. From the concept of parts of one's brain conflicting w/ each other, several other things have come to mind. One of those was that time when Jake discovered some blatant hypocrisy of mine regarding the first incarnation of Jamie's fic. Another is my inclination to eventually read the ending of Cries Unheard despite having written down reasons not to even read that both two entries ago and in a notebook. (This is something I've now emailed Chelle directly for her opinion for, including some extra stuff worth mentioning such as its presence in I Was Kagami Hiiragi as well).

What I'm really getting at, though, is that even though I had decided several days ago to wait until I come back to Lucky Star before hosting the first sumo chapter, I'm kinda wondering right now if that would only keep it on my mind while I write chapter 1 of Cult. Should I just host the chapter, all my commissioned pics, and a points donation pool just to have it over with? It does help that nothing is actually written in stone, but I did mention my current plans to avoid everything related to LS while apologizing last night in a PM to bloodscorpion4ever for having gotten on his case about stuff the other day. From that, he might find it odd if I decide to host the fic anyway despite my word to him, and I did also mention that, along with my plans to give it a rest to begin with in favor of Mon Colle Knights, the stuff I was getting out of CU was only making everything else about the fandom and franchise even less enjoyable for me at this point.

Chelle:

Okay, the mail still kinda confuses me, but about posting your stuff : it's pretty obvious it's still on your mind and the decision to not try to pay attention isn't working so far.

Your problem isn't even with Lucky Star, just some fanfics, right? Maybe it's easier to try and dissociate the fics from the fandom, rather than yourself from the fandom.

What some random author finds odd doesn't matter, it shouldn't decide your fandom activity; you can just add a note that you reconsidered if it's really important.

It was more that the mail confused me because I didn't see the overall connect between the varying topics.

Not really what I was confused about, but let's just drop it, not that important anyway.
