Jun. 16th, 2006 08:19 amI finally finished collecting lj-accounts yesterday morning.
Yesterday, I looked at a list of cliche lists on Wikipedia. Particularly, I studied advertising, animation, video games, and movies. Once, I read an entire chapter in a book called The Anime Explosion: The What, Why, and Wow of Japanese Animation, about the differences between conventions and cliches. Basically, the difference is that conventions may be overused, but are still good for whatever one is writing; they become cliches when they are used so often that the audience gets bored of seeing the same thing again and again. (e.g. Making white, heterosexual men the butt of most jokes; I hope someone does the same thing with a female character, just to go against the "rules.")
Also, some of what's listed looks not so much like cliches but trivia, such as differences between the idea in question and reality.

Brian's having a party either today or tomorrow, so yesterday, we had some cleaning to do. We also had to move the futon and some other stuff around.
Two days ago, I considered buying Sonic the Hedgehog comics after having read about that also on Wikipedia. However, yesterday, I came across a website which features summaries of each chapter. So far, it seems like a comical version of SatAM (at least some of it is), consisting mostly of filler. I thought SatAM was supposed to be serious, unlike Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog. I'm glad I didn't invest in a single issue, even on Ebay.
