May. 28th, 2016 05:36 amMom had some shopping to do at Costco, Best Market, and Lowes yesterday, and thought she might treat me to lunch at Costco in exchange for helping her obtain some mulch from the landfill an hour or so earlier. We happened to leave the house late enough that Sicilia D'Oro near Best Market would likely be open by the time we finished shopping at Costco.
At first, she thought it would seem more economical (cheaper, for one thing) to eat lunch together with me at Costco, but frankly, I'm tired of always having a slice of pizza there (they do have several other things, but those aren't as good), and I was hoping that Sicilia would have stuff like a meatball sub or stromboli (kinda like at the Smithhaven Mall food court or the Tanger outlets).
Got myself a veal Parmesian sandwich and two (tiny) canoles with a medium cup of raspberry iced tea. It was okay, but I could've gotten something different, or even ate at a nearby McDonald's or Subway. (Come to think of it, I would be glad to have an M&M McFlurry at some point. Other than that, though, both those places are more accessible elsewhere anyway.)
Still, I was glad to be able to pick up a lotto ticket within the shopping center, even if it didn't win. More importantly, though, had I eaten at Costco, I would probably be tired the whole time Mom had spent at Best Market and Lowes. Mom only needed a bag of charcoal from the latter, but I had spent almost a combined hour in Sicilia carefully reading the menu, waiting to be served (my sandwich had to be cooked), and actually eating, before meeting Mom inside BM just before she got in line to check her stuff out.
So, yeah, I think I did make the more economical decision over what Mom originally assumed would be.
