Brian went to the airport to pick Marie up two nights ago after we came home first.

Chapter 3 of Unwilling Service: Jimmy's Quest is finally up. No coincidence that this was after I came home from Brian's; I specifically asked that I be allowed to see and pay for it when I have no more expenses up there to anticipate.

Even though some of the writing was from my own draft, I must say that Michael, the person I assigned the chapter to, did mostly a really good job fleshing it out. Even though he did falter by the time he reached Jimmy's second, successful attempt at the gym, the events at Sprout Tower had been expanded enough that I could end the chapter after that and add the rest to the beginning of the next chapter, raising that one's page count to 7.

I also commend him for having changed certain things as he saw fit. Namely, by having Jimmy pit his mostly unused Weedle, instead of an already worn-out Pidgey, against the Sprout Tower Elder's first Bellsprout. Not sure if Jake would agree with such a move, but that does tell me that he isn't just going through the motions as he writes along.

(Pidgey will still be the one specified in my log for Jimmy, to have fought that Bellsprout, and retain the experience that she gained. She would go on to fight some more Pokemon in the local gym, and having leveled during that previous battle had no doubt affected the details of those subsequent battles. Only slightly, to be sure, but it is already too late to "fix" anything, especially since I'm the only one actually keeping track of anything.)

On a minor note, I also like how he retained both Pokemon-speak and Pokedex usage, sparingly with the former as he may have. Even though Jake included that as part of his narrative style, I only applied it once all chapter long (and by extension, in everything I've written so far), and was not specifically gonna ask anyone else to incorporate it. He must have taken a cue from what I'd ironically cut and move, to apply it specifically to the first Sage's Bellsprout. (I will admit never actually liking it by default, but I do like to maintain ties with the anime.)

(So far, I am still waiting on someone else for May's pending chapter. Not likely to do any more writing until after Brian and Marie leave. Jason also told me that things are gonna be hectic for him this holiday season, and I am not likely going to conduct any further business anyway until after Christmas, when I have some money to put into the bank, after having already made a bunch of purchases at Smithhaven Mall and spent most of what Mom deposited for me for Boston (unspent while actually up there) to pay Michael. Will likely have either Jason or that other person work on Jimmy's next chapter when that's done and I resume business, although Michael is still free to try again with what's not the beginning of that one after having probably just petered out the first time.)

Went with Brian and Marie to Bagel Lovers. Stopped just shortly down Long Island Avenue to see Dad, who's lately been cleaning up some woods of brush, vines, litter, and dead trees, and who would explain stuff to us both at that time and when we'd stop by again on the way home.

Since Marie is not gonna be here for Christmas, I've decided to present what I got from Barnes & Noble as a family gift this year while we were eating dinner.

What I got, as they'd all discover when Brian and Marie opened it together, was a Bob's Burgers edition of Monopoly. I was already falling asleep by that point, though, so we have agreed to actually play it sometime today.
