dmxratedThe other day, I noticed a few pages in that Earthbound guide were discolored, and brought it up with the seller. After I declined on buying a new copy altogether, he allowed me to send it to him to let him replace the pages in question, for an online total of $15 (shipping included).
Yesterday, I asked Mom about returning some cans and bottles to supplement my remaining cash in order to pay to have it shipped over, and she lost her shit about me supposedly throwing my money away over something so minor. She thought the seller was just trying to take advantage of me, because she pulled up a few of the teeth binding the pages together, so I asked the seller just for the pages. He instead refunded me in full and cancelled the deal, and I can't blame him for not wanting to waste time squabbling with me, so maybe I'll try again some time in the future.
I can understand Mom's concerns about me falling for a possible scam, but even without a job, $23 is not such a big deal for me when I usually have a few hundred in my personal budget most of the time.
More importantly, though, even though we both know Marie isn't going to care, there is still that feeling of awkwardness that comes with such minor stuff like that when you show something to someone. Will have to ask others if they understand what I'm talking about, but I will definitely take some time to reconsider for myself whether a refurbishment is worth just a few dollars or not.

Dad let me on the phone with Marie after speaking with her for a bit, and I brought up my current issues surrounding Unwilling Service with her. Primarily, about the difference between wanting to accomplish something personally and simply wanting stuff for oneself. She suggested I get some books on work/life balance and the similar art of movie directing, so Mom and I have agreed to hit the Bellport library sometime today.
