I did give up on that patch, but then someone on Upwork actually got back to me from a week earlier, and I went on to hire him. Continued playing Disgaea, because I wasn't about to pin hopes on him, considering how long it already took him to get back to me, enough for me to have left him for dead, but he actually managed to pull it off, which he proved in more ways than one.
He gave me some instructions on how to run the modified game on my phone, but one of them states that it should take about five minutes to start up after installation. For me, it just never did, and I could only use my phone again by resetting it. (Glad I didn't wait under any assumption that everything would work just fine.)
I brought it up with him, and as it turns out, he happens to have several models much more powerful than mine. I emailed Mom to ask if we could look around for that phone Marie once sent me, the one I was once going to play Magia Record on after that game failed to run on my phone, but she told me she had to give that one to Brian after his died at some point. I asked if there'd be some other way to obtain a better phone, and she suggested me and Brian could shop for one when he comes over.
I have taken this as a cue to stop playing Disgaea for now. So far, I still have yet to do any spritework at all, even though I did manage to pace myself with that game at times.
It does kinda suck since, just yesterday morning, I made it to the tenth floor in an item and solved its Geo Puzzle simply by having Laharl toss a Geo Symbol onto a Thief standing on a Geo Panel of the right color, also single-handedly wiping all enemies out except for the Item General and a Lantern.
But, on the other hand, I have come to find that the Rozen Queen Netherworld Branch is actually pretty useless when I can already land a surplus of items by solving Geo Puzzles in the Item World whenever practical, meant only for players who don't bother so much with those or even the Item World itself. That leaves HL good only for the hospital, where it would become increasingly important the bigger a party you amass, especially when you pursue the Item World where you have to complete ten floors at a time in lieu of a Mr. Gency's Exit and are bound to lose even more units along the way than in regular stages. This also rules out attempting to raise military funds at the Dark Assembly, unless I'm ever short on cash to treat everyone in my party with.
I also read the player's guide, and it turns out that I've already forfeited something you need to read Etna's diary each chapter for. It's actually only one thing among others, not all of which are listed near the very end, that you can only get under special circumstances. I'm gonna need to list those on WordPad, to be transferred onto an index card.
Should also make more use of Stealing Hands, whenever I've got more people surrounding someone than I expect to kill them with, but only if they have anything rare or legendary.
(It helps that I did finally get to make use of cute little Flonne. Having figured those few things out, though, I'm already feeling eager again to start over, and I would prefer to do some writing after completing a game, over trying again w/ Food Fantasy after a whole month of spriting, once Brian and I have a chance to discuss Starbound in actual depth again. But, at the very least, I could try to get a day's worth of spriting in first, be that today, this weekend, or Monday, and try to get back into swing, if mainly to feel better about myself.)
