Aug. 12th, 2021 06:27 amWas about to play Suikoden II yesterday, but Duckstation couldn't read the file I created on ROMhacking.net. Turned out the file's type in question was unidentified.
I tried visiting the page again just to try re-patching the original ISO, but instead of getting a dialogue box with two different lists to sort out what to fix or not fix, I was brought to a new page where I had to select one change to make and, due to what's probably a glitch, couldn't even browse for the ISO itself.
Brought this all up with several people, and while this should have been obvious from the start, someone suggested I simply added ".bin" to the file name, and that solved one problem.
The other issue will affect my ability to recommend patches through any walkthroughs I create. (In particular, Suikoden I has two spells whose effect doesn't take hold, and that was one of five different changes implemented in its bugfix patch.)
From here, I've decided just to commission for even more changes for that game to try including wholesale-only in what's eventually gonna be the first of two hacks I plan to have created. Previously, I was going to wait until I have at least Earthbound, Mother 3 (Earthbound Zero is just barely conducive to randomization), Super Mario RPG (too important a part of my childhood to pass up), Getter Love!!, and Suikoden I-III, before I start commissioning for mods, mainly so that I wouldn't have to put any of those games down to test someone else's work while I try to get them done before the end of 2022. However, I have decided as of yesterday that it might be even better if I already have a hack to link to, with only minor changes to account for in a given walkthrough.
So far, along with posting to a subreddit for ROMhacking, while Guru has rejected my post, I have managed to get it approved in both PeoplePerHour and OnlineJobs.ph. However, Mom did have a word with me upon finding out about a call I made to the bank in order to remove a block and pay someone upfront on PPH.
The reason my bank account was blocked, which I explained to her, had to do with Guru asking for my debit card number and taking a small amount from my account. She and Dad were at the beach, and I've had to type out my debit card number all the time even on well-knownly reputable websites. However, she has asked me from now on to hold off on stuff like this whenever she isn't home to guide me around anything potentially dangerous.
(As of this morning, in case nothing pans out with that one person on PPH, I have decided to commission for some mostly minor changes to Earthbound as well. That will be it for now, though.)

Unrelated, it just occurred to me that if Grandma Barbara were still alive, I would've surely re-shown her Tiles of the Dragon. However, her death was the entire reason Marie and Ray came up here in the first place, and the pandemic is not something she would've been able to deal with.
