dmxratedBrought up the issue of hardcoding yesterday on the ROMhacking.net forum. As it turns out, not all modders are ROMhackers, and that would explain why Muhammad wasn't able before to mod Disgaea PC or Mother 3, claiming that only the original developers could possibly access such data. (Epic Battle Fantasy 4 had its own issues he ran into).
As of yesterday, Muhammad and I have reached an agreement of $500 for the remake, only $100 of which I am putting into Escrow for until I receive the game itself, before I test it for actual changes and functionality. He already said originally that it would take six months to complete, which would already be long enough to more than recuperate the full amount, and for a quarter of the original price, it should now take even longer than that.
