Mar. 16th, 2023 08:37 amDad may have been sick for a while now; Mom had to drive him to the hospital four days ago, but he is due to come home today, just in time for my birthday.
Recently, Mom asked me if there was anything special I'd want her to cook tonight, and I found myself in the mood instead to dine out somewhere like Applebee's. Last Monday, we decided to eat out then instead, since Dad usually likes to eat at home, and I decided then upon Friendly's, since Applebee's doesn't have sundaes to choose from for dessert. (Mom and I went on to agree upon buying a pizza for my actual birthday dinner, and she told me this morning that she has a surprise dessert planned out for it, although I should probably remind her to get me a soda to go with it.)
Got myself a honey BBQ burger, some adult mac 'n' cheese, and a Hunka Chunka PB fudge lava cake.
Yesterday, I didn't find myself all too hungry for lunch all the way until 2, and only had a banana when I normally make lunch for myself. Mom came home at around 1:30, and asked me then if I would like her to drop me off at the mall while she drives back to the hospital, and I took that right up. Next thing I know, the mail comes by, and that happens to include a $15 gift card Grandma Ella sent me for Panera Bread, and since there's a location near the mall, that settles what to have for the main course.
On our way there, we stopped at the bank to deposit a check Mom gave me the other day. It was only during the transaction that I noticed only her name both on the back and next to "Pay to the order of". I ended up letting the teller put it into her account, but Mom helped me clear things up when I met her back in the car, and agreed to transfer the money to me.
Ordered a Green Goddess caprese melt, since that's new, and some iced coffee. For some reason, I wasn't given a buzzer, and could not hear my name called twice from where I took a seat. Will need to remember to ask for one next time I go there.
In the mall, I ordered an Irish cream brownie sundae with M&Ms and cookie dough bits, but was given one of those elastic spoons with it, unlike previous visits. Such weak spoons as those are the reason I usually get a shake instead at Tanger Outlets while getting a sundae here, so now I'll just have to order whatever I'm in the mood for. (I did order a peppermint shake last time, but found myself wishing then I had gotten a sundae.)
I did go on to browse the manga shelves in Barnes & Noble, even reading the backs of several, but didn't find myself interested in much in particular. Decided instead to flip through an Otaku USA magazine when I wasn't just sitting down.

Recently, I have played several different playthroughs of Disgaea, all aborted for one reason or another, that I didn't bother marking down due to such a pattern. Yesterday's session after I came home does stand out, though:
To start with, one of my Prinnies, Monar, recruited a Brawler named Edgar, planned to become an Eternal Fist once he unlocks that tier at level 100.
Etna went on to propose Eyeglass Inventory, which was initially denied when the Dark Assembly voted. I went on to persuade by force, and that became Edgar's first battle.
After eliminating three of the naysayers, I wore the last one, a level-48 Golem, all the way down, and Edgar, after having already jumped to level 4 and then climbing one more, joined one of my other Prinnies, Sunday, for the final blow, jumping to level 13 with his share of experience, catching him halfway up with the rest of my party.
Sunday, for background, is set to recruit a Tailring, a tier of Kit Cat (cat woman) that can only be found in the Alternate Netherworld, which requires 3,000 mana to propose unlocking. I thought I had read before that mana is usually awarded to whoever initiates the killing blow against a given enemy, usually equal to the level of that enemy, but it turns out he had only gained 12 mana, which could only be from a level-12 Gremlin. This is not the first time this has happened, so I couldn't help but wonder if there is some kind of bug.
Went on to check Edgar's status, just to see if he had learned Triple Strike by any chance, courtesy of a Power Glove I equipped him with, since Martial Artists are most proficient with fists, and there was the 48 mana I expected for Sunday. Apparently, mana is awarded randomly amongst those participating in a team-up.
(This morning, after climbing two more levels in the Item World, Edgar went on to jump from 15 to 24 by taking out a level-70 Boggart I built him, thanks in no small part to invincibility in effect on that floor. Sunday, meanwhile managed to accumulate close to 300 mana throughout that run, and now he's already halfway to his goal, at 1,432.)
