Jul. 16th, 2023 06:58 amStumbled upon a baby robin in the backyard as I was about to have a walk yesterday morning. Took a picture of it, and then showed Mom from out the back of the house, at which point we also saw the mother apparently seeking food for it.

Mom and I had agreed the other day to visit BJ's again either early morning or late afternoon yesterday. Yesterday at around 10, she asked me if I'd like to go in on my own to familiarize myself more what products are where in each aisle, but I told her that the whole point was to help her get familiar so that she can start taking advantage of her membership there. Originally, I thought the weekend might be best because she seemingly never has time to go shopping between coming home from work and getting dinner started, when we also have the gym to fit in, but she told me that stores tend to be crowded on weekends, and in fact, she only ever goes to Costco on Thursdays, so we agreed to go visit on Monday or Tuesday, since Wednesday is my next workday.
That said, she still did have the post office to stop by, and we decided to tie the gym in as well.
Like last week, she dropped me off at Best Bagels Around before heading into Savers. This time around, I ordered an everything bagel, and after having noticed a separate menu for cream cheese from the overall one, I asked for jalapeƱo cheddar on mine.
After noticing one of the proprietors cutting it vertically, I suggested that they ask from now on, but she said it comes automatically to her.
That proved later to be a moot point when, back home, I mentioned to Mom having ordered cream cheese. She told me that the whole point of getting bagels was to use up that which she still had around.
Incidentally, while we'd normally have to defrost the lox we have, that, too, proved moot when Mom suggested I not even have any, lest it become overly salty with such an aforementioned cream cheese flavor.

Went with Mom later to the Walmart store in Shirley, where she simply needed two bags of cat litter. Turns out that it had opened up a Charlie's Philly Cheese Steak inside, but while I did buy myself a Mega Millions ticket, not only was this trip too short to bother dining out, but I actually found myself rather full from lunch, having had something rather filling later in the day than usual, and decided to pass.
(Next time we go there, I would surely like to try out some ice cream that was advertised on a poster. Cookies 'n' cream in particular was always one of my favorite flavors.)
