Finally managed to bust those muffins out during teatime yesterday. I had a whole one, but my parents decided to split one in half between them, with Mom having a bite of her half every now and then (such as one after dinner).

Would have also waited for Brian and Emily, since they had to come down for Emily's grandmother's funeral. Unfortunately, Emily turned out to have some kind of stomach virus, and we advised them not to come over. Dad has just had some chemotherapy performed on him the other day, and I have come to find the other day that I am now just one attendance point and a half away from getting laid off (for reasons Rich had agreed to discuss on Tuesday when I called about cancelling an absence request for the 6th) and have no more PTO to redeem after having had to request the 14th off (the reason I need to discuss the 6th now).

Quite by accident, I discovered a script error in Earthbound, that I eventually traced back to the original game and asked Mr. Tenda to fix up before going to bed.

For context, both here and for the story, I have been making a point of talking to any NPCs and reading any signboards I directly come across, and have also made such detours as towards the Traveling Entertainers' shack in Onett before going down to meet Frank. That is something I did in the original playthrough I hosted on YouTube, since I specifically meant to show that one to people on Upwork, as opposed to other people's playthroughs I found some issue or another with.

Yesterday afternoon, after Jeff joins, I read the signboard in front of the hint shop in Threed, decided to buy a hint for the first opportunity for story context, and the hint man told me about the miner in Dusty Dunes Desert instead of the false circus tent south of town.

Tried to look through the CCscript for any other misplaced hints, before deciding instead to talk to other NPCs in Threed, both when you first arrive there and after Jeff joins you. Went on to discover the same issue with those in the real tent, with several of them saying things that belong after things have finally settled down (several shouldn't even be saying anything new at that time).

Brought the issue up with Mr. Tenda, and then on PK Hack. Sure enough, the flag code for after Jeff arrives in Threed, 06 0E 00, is tied in the CCscript to what the characters in question are supposed to be saying, which begs the questions, how is that code calling upon the wrong lines, and how does CoilSnake generate such a discrepancy from what actually happens?

Getting a step back when Mom called me down for dinner, it occurred to me to test my clean copy afterwards with the respective savestate converted thereto. Sure enough, the script was misaligned even there, so at least this had nothing to do with any tampering by Orbay, or even several tweaks of my own this time.

And, that's when I gave the ROMhack, CS project, and savestates to Mr. Tenda to try his hand with. (Hopefully, this whole thing comes down to that one control code, because I do remember those few people saying the correct lines when I laid down the Zombie Paper during one of my first few playthroughs after buying my original hard copy.)
