May. 28th, 2024 06:20 amBrian, Emily, and Marie arrived here just shortly before I came home.
After taking a few minutes to unwind from work, I joined everyone while they were watching clips of Planet Earth. At one point, I showed them an unrelated clip of a koala crying after its tree gets taken over by a bigger koala, but Mom turned it off just seconds in.

Had been hoping to swap some of this week's shifts, and especially tomorrow's, out of this week. However, both Robert and someone I never met had declined last week. (Mom says that they could have school or something that day of the week, and it doesn't surprise me how most people take retail as a side-gig as opposed to their main job.)
My own schedule was updated up through the 7th last Saturday, but at first, it seemed that the swap schedule had yet to be, since attempting to swap Wednesday's only gives me up through Friday this week.
As it turns out yesterday, now that the pay period is one week long instead of two, shifts can only be swapped within a given week. What weird timing for such a change, when I was hoping to buy more time with everyone over.

We have decided to celebrate Aunt Marie's birthday two weeks early last night as long as we're all together. Following a special Memorial Day dinner of steak, corn on the cob, roasted red peppers, oven fries, and nectarine slices, we all had a chocolate tuxedo cake that Mom and I picked out from Costco for dessert last night.
