Aug. 13th, 2024 05:30 amAfter some trouble he had trying to run Disgaea (turns out he was using an emulator of too early a version of Android), I put Jonathan instead on Epic Battle Fantasy 4 the other day. Sure enough, he did manage to slash the price of Chips to just £2,400 (from £50,000), and sent me the file I'm supposed to apply. However, even with a video tutorial on how to apply it myself, I found myself running into roadblock after roadblock this whole past weekend whenever I was home from work.
Just yesterday, he proposed some kind of meeting, I agreed to meet him on Discord, and it only helps that then was my first of two days off after five consecutive working days. I went on to download a program called AnyDesk (what he suggested after an initial failure with TeamViewer), so as to show him what was actually going on on my end, and in just 45 minutes, he not only helped me finish the task once and for all on this emulator called Memu, but after I pointed out a difference between our versions of a better one called Mumu, also enabled root permissions and took care of things on that.
I made sure to record the whole thing, and then cut the freshly recorded video into three segments. Someone working on Android's version of Marenian Tavern Story recently wanted to know what I wanted instead of a pre-patched app of that game, and now that I've seen for myself what to actually modify Android games with, I took the afternoon to show him both Jonathan's original tutorial and my recorded AD session. The former of those uploaded just fine, but the latter's three clips failed a couple of times even when I tried uploading just one at a time, so I took those to YouTube instead (all currently unlisted), one at a time for faster progress (parts 2 and 3 still took more than an hour each), passing time during uploads by reading The Week and doing some yardwork.
1) Wrapping up Memu
2) How Jonathan enabled root permissions on Mumu
3) Modifying the game there
Today, I have that change to Earthbound to list for Raymond how to polish up, that I already had a preview of the other day. There are others I still need to get back to, and I have already promised Jonathan another deposit when I am ready to resume business with him.
