These past few days, I had asked to be brought to work an hour early in order to grab a protein-rich breakfast or lunch before my shift for each day would begin. Yesterday, Brian ended up bringing me and Aunt Marie to Coram Diner two hours before my shift (he originally brought us to Lucia's, but that place turned out to close for Tuesdays and Wednesdays).

Before we left, I noticed this bag of documents and goodies from Ridgewood in the backseat, which I had previously put into the way back for Brian to smuggle back to his house. Brought that into the apartment, now that Mom already knows about my account there.

During the ride there, I asked Marie if she ever plays mobile games. She mentioned playing the occasional puzzle game and such, but hitting right home, she had sworn herself off of RPGs some time ago, given how addictive those can be. I went on to bring up a new reason that came up the previous day, for wanting to come back to Food Fantasy.

Basically, even though reading is good for filling time in during breaks, I am still bored when I am working again, checking the time on my phone after every few steps I complete. Accomplishing something in a game, or even just keeping a few things going, would give me something to reflect on at least briefly post-break.

Brian argued that I could just as easily aggravate myself or take longer a break than I'm supposed to if I were to plug away at a hard battle.

-

Ordered some pancakes, Canadian bacon, and coffee. Brian got a waffle, and Marie, having had breakfast at home, simply got some coffee.

Brian then drove us to Karen and Bill's to pick up Maris, before driving me to work.

Upon arriving at the shopping center itself, Marie asked me what this building was with an acorn emblem. I told her that was actually Ridgewood, where I had recently set up that new bank account.

-

What Brian had pointed out managed to keep my mind nice and full for half my shift. In addition to pissing myself off or exceeding my break, I would not want to return to work in a daze should I win after multiple attempts of trying to hit each of the right notes at just the right split-second, all shaky and lightheaded.

To that end, I figured out that, should I bring any game to tap into, I should attempt a given battle just once, and then assess what happened in order to restrategize properly. (Winning several consecutive battles somewhere until my next loss is fair game, though.)

(Having thought of this this morning, I suppose I could also find something binary to decide on, given how much loose change I tend to find on the job. Just not dice or an extra mobile device.)

-

Went on to share that idea with Brian during my lunch hour, but he decided to discuss things with me upon driving me home.

His starting point was to do what is good for my heart, but he also went on to suggest I look for jobs that would entertain me more. That conversation continued even after we arrived home, where Emily would join us. She did say that nobody "loves" their job, but I went on to mention that I did enjoy my previous retrieval job at BJ's last year, as well as the desk and library jobs I worked at college after a year and a half at McDonald's.

(I already looked months ago into applying for a driver's license, at least to expand my job opportunities, and also to be able to drive myself to future job interviews. However, Mom said that that's actually more trouble than it's worth, and she does not have the time to be driving me to interviews until Dad finally recovers. On the plus side, I am closing in on the one-year anniversary of my current job, which will come with such benefits as health insurance and some kind of retirement plan.)
