Dec. 28th, 2024 05:41 amMom had already told me that Dad is not going to get better, but it was only a few days ago that she specified that they are done with all the operations that just weren't going anywhere. Even with a walker and wheelchair at hand, he has lost the use of his legs altogether. We managed a few days before Christmas to move his hospice bed into the living room where the couch had been, but even just talking seems like a chore for him now.
Just yesterday morning, I joined him, Marie, and Aunt Marie while they were watching Moonstruck, a favorite movie of his, but they didn't watch for very long. Can't remember what I went to do when they paused the movie, but when I came back, the TV was off altogether, and Brian was there talking about our past with our dog Lucy (1995-2005). He wasn't in the mood to watch anything when I brought that up, although he did specify that he might be later on, and from there, I just sat with Aunt Marie while Marie held Dad's hand, taking my turn to do so at one point.
Things did liven up when Emily brought Maris over. Shortly thereafter, I specified to Brian, after inviting Marie and Aunt Marie to watch something, that I did have a more benign alternative to Release the Spyce in case he wanted to join us with Maris on him. He still declined, but did appreciate the thought. The three of us simply went on to watch episode 4.
I remained upstairs after it ended to catch up on Wanikani.

During a conversation while she drove me out for a haircut, Mom asked me which show I was talking about that I mentioned to Brian. That being K-On!, she asked me to refresh her memory what that was about. She did recall as I specified, but I still decided to show her the second season's first episode for after we'd arrive back home.
