After some on-and-off debate with Mom, Brian, and Drew throughout the day, regarding what would still need to be sorted out with both that spare computer and a spare monitor that had been sitting at the end of the apartment desk, Mom and I have decided to look into simply buying a new monitor for my birthday, for downstairs to hook my laptop up to, for the main purpose of having the same conveniences that come with a desktop, instead of having to go upstairs every time I want more than just my laptop. That would help to rule out any need for another ethernet cable to install, and plugging both the laptop and the monitor in (the former to keep it charged) would only require plugging a power strip into an extension cord (the original outlets had been removed in a renovation that Dad never got to finish in the porch, as I had discovered in the morning).
