Writer's block

I'm typing this up from the office where I work because our computer reset itself again this morning, and Mom is going to run a scan on it this afternoon.
I spoke to Mom yesterday about The Furrysitter's Club and how much trouble I'm having with it. She suggested that I either put it aside temporarily or abandon it forever. Chapter 3 of the fic came to me naturally enough, but I can't rely on other people for the whole fic. I spoke about it with Jake as well, and then told him that I might not have as much of a creative talent as other fanfiction writers. My idea of finding inspiration is to read other fanfiction and mentally compile ideas that I find, and then modify and put them together as I see fit. His response was "Maybe...or maybe you're just lazy."
I then spoke about it with Dad, and he said that the only rule to inspiration is to find inspiration that works. Lots of creative people derive ideas from other people's works of fiction, and unlike Jake, many if not most of them don't have ideas bombarding them 24 hours a day. I still do respect Jake's opinion of my methods, but Dad told me that just because someone's better than me doesn't mean that my talent is invalid.
Also, I think it might be practical to break off my relation with Martin. I don't talk to him very often, unless either I'm bored or I have something babyfic-related to talk about with him. I am grateful of him for having shared stuff (especially his copy of Eggman's New Invention) with me since our friendship began last summer, but more than once recently, when I tried to talk to him, he wasn't fast enough to say so much as "Hi, Eric" before either signing off or having his PC shut down on him. However, I think I'll wait until I have Chapter 4 of my fic uploaded, and then send him one last email to see if he wants to continue the relationship. Megan (a former friend of mine) used to type "brb" when I tried to contact her and then sign off 5 to 15 minutes later, which is why I don't even have her on my Buddies list, but maybe this person is more busy than just looking at stuff. Who knows?
