Among other things, Dad had attempted to fix or replace the lock on our front door some time before he died, and we installed a second front door in-between the foyer and kitchen. Just the other day, the lock malfunctioned on Mom, and she had a hard time getting her key back out.

Two days ago, Mom started to clean the foyer way up, in preparation for someone at the hospital to come over and finish fixing the lock, but then Marie gave us a call. I spent about 15 minutes talking to her, but Mom wound up speaking afterwards for about two hours. Good thing Nancy had cooked another one of her meals for us, so that Mom could just continue cleaning after I told her what time it was.

The locksmith managed yesterday to fix the door well enough to shut a lot more cleanly than we had been able to. No need to slam it anymore just so it latches. (Mom had also managed the other day to fix the bathroom door like that after giving the bathroom itself a cleanup, and also promised for at some point to fix my bedroom door.)
