dmxratedBrian ended up not coming over yesterday, and is currently aiming for Monday, with an interview in NYC having been moved to Tuesday.
Emily had just spent a few days at her parents' house, and came to visit for just more than an hour yesterday afternoon. Mom took some medicine to stay awake for her.
Managed to show Emily one episode of Release the Spyce, since Brian's already seen half of that. Mom asked me early on, remembering one scene of Momo hanging upside-down, if I think something like that would be appropriate for Maris, to which I specified Emily having already seen no problem with letting Maris see certain things in ChäoS;HEAd in passing. As we debated, Emily specified that Maris has actually developed some basic comprehension skills in the short time since they were last here.
(With nothing outside of Hidive that Emily has already seen more of than Brian (only one episode that we didn't even get to finish of Kanon, on YouTube), I'm probably just going to continue with Mahoromatic even when Brian pays his visit here.)

After they left, Mom asked me if I wanted to go somewhere like McDonald's or Wendy's for dinner, and I decided to think about that while she take her nap once and for all.
About an hour later, I told Mom what time it was, and she thought it was morning and asked to confirm that it's the weekend (her days off). I corrected her, and gave her a few minutes to wake up before asking if we could hit Friendly's instead.
Ordered a Buffalo blue cheese burger, some fire-roasted corn, and this blue-raspberry-flavored Sprite drink called Shark in the Water, with four gummy sharks at the bottom, for dinner, and then a salted caramel popcorn sundae for dessert.
The food I ordered was good, but Mom asked only to go there for ice cream from now on, given some subpar service we got: A table with a scrunched-up straw wrapper behind the menu, our waitress neglecting to write our orders down, another waitress asking on her behalf whether I ordered blue cheese or mushrooms on my burger, a BLT Mom ordered having only two strips of bacon within some thick bread and a lot more lettuce, our waitress giving me the wrong sundae, and a free Happy Ending sundae Mom tied in with her meal coming in a to-go cup while I got a sundae glass for such a regular item as mine. From what she noticed, even the kitchen staff didn't seem to be moving along that quickly.
She says it used to be a lot better when we used to go there as a family, and would still be okay just for ice cream, but the chain might have fallen on hard times if the chefs are instructed these days to skimp on a BLT ingredient like that.
