Dec. 7th, 2025 08:20 amNot five minutes after we left the hotel in Vermont, someone ran a red light and caused Mom to crunch the passenger-side front light in as she turned to minimize the damage. Both we and the other driver, along with a witness named Stella from behind us, stopped right there for until a police officer would arrive.
After sorting things out there and then having breakfast at a nearby diner, we had to drive over to a local Walmart for some tape and saran wrap to protect the damaged light from rain.
Having already told Aunt Allison and others about what happened when we were awaiting breakfast, she had some trouble navigating StateFarm's answering machine, before eventually getting hold of an actual representative on her last attempt and explaining the situation.
-----
Seeing how we cannot drive at nighttime now, and how this is going to delay our return home by one day, Mom decided to do some Costco shopping somewhere here in Canada that she was originally gonna take care of at home. We happened to pass a store on an expressway, and decided to take care of things there.
I got myself a Montreal smoked beef sandwich and a cup of iced tea, just to avoid going hungry before we'd reach Quebec City when it was already past noon.
Mom also found some things that neither store near home sells, including a couple of cereals.
-----
After arriving at our hotel and having a brief nap, the two of us had a brief tour of our surroundings, before returning for a miniature buffet on the floor below ours.
For dinner, I had gotten some charcuterie meats, a small salad, some cherry tomatoes and cucumber slices, and a ham-and-cheese slider. (Dessert an hour later was just some assorted small pastries, nothing like ice cream or cake.)
Over the next hour before dessert, we looked into watching something on the TV, but to no avail. Google Cast did give me some instructions involving apps for actual streaming services, but I did not receive a message from Crunchyroll to verify that on my phone (I use Cousin David's password, so it must've gone to him), Mom had actually bought Earthbound USA on Dad's YouTube account, which I assumed would not be accessible through the app on my phone, and Netflix, for Scott Pilgrim Takes Off, also failed at first when I made too many attempts to log in even with a pre-loaded password. (Mom somehow got that one up and running on her phone later, but I had already taken to reading some pages of Magical Girl Raising Project by that point, just before dessert at the buffet.)
-----
We have just had breakfast at the buffet now. I managed to get some waffle halves, hashbrowns, bacon, fruit salad, and a chocolate croissant.
