Yesterday, we all went on a boat ride, including Grandma. While we were on the water, Marie was riding on a separate smaller boat attatched to the catboat by a rope. At one point, as a joke, Dad undid the rope and left Marie's boat sitting on the water, and then came back for her and retied the rope. From there on, Marie got on the catboat with the rest of us.

Later on, before we landed, someone who soon introduced himself as Brian Kennedy came on another boat with his son, and struck up a conversation with Dad. During their chat, Dad told Mr. Kennedy that the boat I thought he was the one that started actually originated in Connecticut. As soon as Mr. Kennedy took off, I asked Dad why he said that. He said that it actually dates back to World War I, and he eventually took it down and built it back up.

Grandma also noticed the word "Portofino" under the NAUTICA logo on my shirt. She commented on it, and said that it's the name of some Italian restaurant she went to in Bermuda. Also, we saw a plane carrying a banner that said "GET YOUR HEAD OUT OF THE SAND." I mentioned that if someone's face was in the sand, they obviously wouldn't see the message.

After that, Marie took a practice sail to the shore, and then came back to get me, and then Brian. Mom and Dad then came to the shore with us, but Grandma decided to have a nap on the catboat. The rest of us had a walk down the beach, to the same beach we went to the other day, but we didn't even have a dip in the water this time. Mom did pick up a tiny crab that camoflauged itself in the sand, though, which she showed us.

When we got home, I didn't feel like doing anything except checking my emails or otherwise just relaxing. No manga, no DVD's, nothing.

The following link contains a conversation I had with Mom later on, while we were home:

"Gilmore Girls is a soap opera like All My Children, right?" I asked.

"Actually, it's not really a soap opera," she answered. "It's only on once a week. Soap operas are on every day to get you to buy soap."

"Even though I've never watched Gilmore Girls, I understand that it doesn't consist entirely of disputes the way AMC does."

"True, it's not like everyone has a problem with someone else."

"In fact, our lives would resemble that show a lot more than AMC."

I also made a reference to my thread in Rokumon Sekai. Funny, isn't it? I thought "drama" and "soap opera" meant the same thing (at least on TV), or the opposite of a sitcom, since these shows run on real time instead of resolving each conflict in thirty minutes.

Just before All My Children started at 8:00, Mom and Grandma started watching an English movie about a deaf boy. I didn't bother asking them what it was called, and I decided to give AMC a rest.

In fact, I'm thinking of letting AMC go entirely. After all, I did make a mental note not to force myself to watch it if I'm getting bored of it, and I have watched enough episodes to know what it's like. Even Family Guy had some serious moments, such as that in Running Mates, while still being mostly comedic.

Finally, I just finished Monster Collection. Marie's been sleeping on the futon in the computer room, so she doesn't want me waking her up with my typing.
