Sep. 17th, 2007 04:37 amScott slept over at our house two nights ago. Yesterday, he and Marie went to New York City to participate in a demonstration to assist the people in Darfur. I spent most of the day alternating between playing Dark Cloud and reading Women of the Praia, but I also helped Dad construct a barbecue. I enjoyed putting the barbecue together, and I also told Dad that Brian would also be glad to help him if he were home to do so.
Recently, Mom asked me and Marie if Hunter is dead. Last night, I knocked on Mr. Weidner's door to finally ask, and he said that Hunter's been dead for five weeks. If that's the case, then I guess the occasional messes I find near the garbage cans can be explained by wild animals, because we've never recently had anyone else's dogs invade our backyard.
Coincidentally, the day before, I spoke to Mom about burying Marie's rat and Sabrina when they die. I noticed Sabrina curled up in a box in the office, and Mom asked me to find a bigger box from the basement. I didn't find one, but she did. I then asked her if we should place her curled into a fitting box like that when she dies, duct tape the cracks, and bury the box. She said that that's a good idea. A few seconds later, it occured to me that when Marie's rat dies (which will only be one more month from now), we should bury him in his ball. I asked Mom, and she asked me to ask Marie for her opinion.

Now, a few things about Dark Cloud. First of all, I've noticed that the Crystal Eyeball is much more frequent than most of the other backfloor keys in the game. I've been getting two on the same floor more than once. Don't get me wrong, I like it, but there must be some kind of error. I only got one Tram Oil in the Divine Beast Cave, one Secret Path Key in the Sun & Moon Temple, and one Bravery Launch in the Moon Sea, so why am I getting so many Crystal Eyeballs in the Demon Shaft?
Speaking of the backfloor keys, I got a Sun Dew (the Wise Owl Forest's backfloor key) from the Happy Clown in the Gallery of Time. Last time I played through the game, I got the same thing from the Happy Clown in the Sun & Moon Temple. Is that any coincidence? Could I have just as easily gotten any of the other aforementioned backfloor keys instead?
Finally, when you're either outside the Demon Shaft Tower or right inside the doors, there is no music. You can hear wind on the outside, but not on the inside, but if you listen closely, you can also hear a bell. Wanna know what that bell reminds me of? It reminds me of this Thom Yorke album cover I once saw on our computer desk. That album depicts a 19th-century-style drawing of some man standing on a cliff and facing a burning village (possibly the Great Chicago Fire. The fire is also drawn as a mass of squggly lines, which is something that interests me). That would be a good scene to imagine the only things audible being wind and a bell.
