Brian has been out on some camping trip for the past several days now.

I tried out the Wi-Fi adapter yesterday, and it sucks. According to www.nintendowifi.com, using it is "as easy as 1-2-3." No it wasn't. It was a fucking nightmare. I hooked it up, and the DS wasn't even reading it when I tried to connect with other players online. I had some trouble figuring out what to do, and then while I read the Wi-Fi connection manual, I found out that first, I was supposed to install some stuff from a CD-ROM that comes with the piece of shit. After doing that and following some steps in the manual, what do you know, I finally got it to work... that one time. Later on, I accidentally rebooted the computer while trying to plug the DS into the battery backup, and I think that might explain why it didn't work after that. Fuck that. If I have to reinstall the stuff from the Wi-Fi CD-ROM every time I reset this computer, then fuck Wi-Fi to hell. It also sucks that I read on this Underground guide that the Underground mini-game is only compatible with wireless, not Wi-Fi, especially since that's the main reason why I bought the Wi-Fi USB adapter in the first place. That means that the only way to play Capture the Flag in the game is to have physical contact with other Diamond/Pearl players. Oh well, I missed out on the Mystery Gift in previous games, so missing out on Capture the Flag wouldn't be any bigger deal. Better just to return the damn thing, keep things simple, and only battle or trade with other players if I come into contact with any.

And speaking of trading, you wanna know how trading would make a whole lot more sense? Assume you were able to select which order you visit each town in. Hey. It works in Mega Man games, as well as in some one-shot games like Duck Tales and Silver Surfer. You'd still have to walk in this game, though, until you get HM Fly. How it would work, is that your home is in the middle of the map in any given region, from which you can leave in one of four directions. Once you select a route, the other three routes will be blocked off: one with a bush requiring HM Cut, one with a rock requiring HM Rock Smash, and the last one with a boulder requiring HM Strength. Better yet, at the beginning of the game, someone would ask you which route you wish to take, and they'd be the one to remove the obstacle in question (assuming there's a fourth type of obstacle). Each time you collect a badge, all trainers who were previously inaccessible level up their Pokemon to some extent. Dark places and bodies of water (requiring HMs Flash and Surf respectively) would still be in the same place, and having the required HMs for those places would be the only way to gain access to Legendary Pokemon, as well as items that you couldn't collect previously in locations you already explored.

Back to last night, I contacted Jake and asked him if he has Pokemon Diamond or Pearl, and told him that I wanted to trade and receive back my Kadabra so that it evolves into Alakazam. This just led to an argument that I'm not going to begin describing. I'll say this, though, the Holidays this year so far have not had that warm feeling that they had in past years. First, Mom and Dad rebuke me about my final exams and expect ordering me to read the material for Literature to be effective. (This was resolved the same night and the following morning.) Then, on Christmas Eve last week, Dad lectures me about badgering Mom about the Pokemon Diamond/Pearl player's guide, although this wasn't as bad as the previous dispute. And now there's the aforementioned dispute I had with Jake just last night, and the fact that I was already aggravated over the Wi-Fi adapter didn't help one bit. I can remember having an argument with Dad at dinner two years ago (which wasn't recorded into this blog), but that was three days before Thanksgiving. Two years ago, the best thing I can remember about the month of December is having downloaded Sonic the Hedgehog 2 upon coming home on the very last day of classes. Last year, my favorite memories are of being obsessed with babyfics, especially Sonic the Hedgehog babyfics, especially Eggman's New Invention (which Martin eventually gave me a copy of midmonth). This year, my favorite memory will probably be of having played Wonder Project J2 (which I downloaded two months ago) on Christmas Day, but even that doesn't feel like much, albeit something positive.

I think I'm gonna stop playing Pokemon Pearl for now, and continue with Wonder Project J2. I've only played Pearl for a few days, and when I come back to it, I'm most likely going to start a new game with it. After I complete WPJ2, there's still going to be Dark Cloud 2 as well to have fun with.
