dmxratedYesterday, I attached copies of my Knuckles Chaotix ROM and Gens (my Sega Genesis emulator) to an email which I sent to Mom's inbox. I wanted to see if it was possible to send ROM and emulator copies through email; the ROM did go through, but the emulator was deleted for security purposes. I then opened up MSN to use my hotmail account, and tried to send a copy of SNES9X to my primary inbox. When I clicked "Attach" after browsing for it, I got a message saying specifically that .exe files cannot be sent through email.
Okay. So, I'm thinking of requesting an ISO (CD-based equivalent to ROMs, which are cartridge-based) of Makeruna Makendou Z from TheNewX. Even though I did say I'd give him a week to get around to reading my fanfic... well, that was just a matter of patience. At least a few days after posting is better than practically jumping up and down saying "Did you read it? Huh? Huh?" With TheNewX and MMZ, this probably won't be a problem, because there are sites that do have PC-FX emulators. But with Martin, it's a different story.
Previously, Martin and I agreed to draw one pic each of Mai changing Baby Mario. Martin agreed to draw Mai as she appears in the Makeruna Makendou box art, and I would (and did) draw her as she appeared in Makeruna Makendou Z (in her magical girl outfit, not in her school clothes, mind you). I did finish the first draft of my version of the pic, but since Martin has a really bad dial-up connection, I promised that I would send him a ROM copy of Makeruna Makendou and a copy of SNES9X if he finishes his version. Even though I'll be able to send the ROM copy electronically, the only way he'd be able to actually play it is if I physically sent a CD containing the emulator. (And while I'm at it, I might as well include emulators for as many different consoles as possible, so as to avoid having to send more disks in the future.)

Moving on, here's two things that occurred to me yesterday. The first was to look up whatever "Makeruna Makendou" means. Well, "makeru" and "-na" were in that Japanese dictionary: "makeru" means "to succumb to", and "-na" is a suffix that tells a person not to. "Makendou" is a bit more difficult to translate. Even though "kendou" is obvious, being the Japanese art of the sword, according to an online translation site, "ma" can either be a prefix or a standalone word, meaning "just", "right," "due" [east], "pure", or "genius". So, a literal translation of the title would be "Don't succumb to just kendo." Now, that doesn't quite make sense, because Mai and co are telling their enemies not to succumb to them, when they should be telling them exactly to do so. Actually, the "Makeruna" is supposed to be followed by an exclamation mark, but a lot of times, that's overlooked. So, a better translation would be "We don't succumb! We're just kendo!" even though it didn't include the word "shojo" (which means girls) in the title whatsoever. Still, it wasn't that hard of a phrase to translate, so why did the first game get retitled "Kendo Rage"?
The other thing is that Gabby and Ty, the names of the two news crew members from Pokemon Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald, share similar names with Gabe and Tycho (the main characters from Penny Arcade). What a coincidence!
