Upon finishing yesterday's entry, it occurred to me that maybe I should use Pokemon Emerald to bring more stuff into Pokemon Pearl once I get the National Dex. I called GameStop to ask if they had a Game Boy Advance GameShark, and they confirmed it. By applying that, I could practically skip everything in Emerald by applying cheats to get infinite Master Balls and Rare Candies. Better yet, I could even cheat so that I have the tickets required to obtain Ho-oh, Lugia, Deoxys, and Mew, and that would make up for the Nintendo events I missed (which is the only legitimate way to get these Pokemon). With Ruby and FireRed empty and Emerald aborted, this is an opportunity I won't have once I complete all five GBA games, and it's not even like I'm gonna be able to have Pokemon like Celebi or Manaphy. As for using GameShark codes to get tickets such as the Aurora Ticket or the Old Sea Map, I've decided that that will only apply when I play different versions of games I've already beaten (such as Ruby and Emerald for having beaten Sapphire).

And while the thought of using cheating devices was on mind, I also decided if I could find out how to get the Flapping Duster in Dark Cloud. From what I read on this forum thread, this is done with something called a CodeBreaker, not an Action Replay. I didn't bother calling GameStop to see of they had that as well; I figured I could just ask when I go to get the GameShark.

I asked Mom if she could take me to GameStop as long as we're already going out to drop Marie off at the train station and do some clothes shopping. She agreed to it.

When we got to Bass, we were greeted by Tony Marie Bandows (one of Ms. Bandows' daughters), and chatted briefly. I asked her if she and her folks started reading this blog; she said that she might, even though Ms. Bandows doesn't know how to use the Internet. Not much else happened at the store before we paid for some pants and slip-on shoes.

Upon arriving at GameStop, there was no line whatsoever. The total cost of the GameShark and the CodeBreaker came up to around $43, each item costing $20 plus tax. Good thing, because it's not like I'm actually gonna be playing Dark Cloud all the way over again.

Upon returning home and starting the "CodeBroken" game, all I did was return to the Gallery of Time and give the Flapping Duster a try. Part of the fun of the backfloor keys in that game is that they're hard to get, which makes things exciting when you do get one. Well, yeah, the other half is being able to get attachments and gem stones for your weapons, but the only way to have both the regular Flapping Duster and the Demon Shaft bonus dungeon is to hack an ISO copy of the U.S. version (which even EmuParadise doesn't have yet), and even then, you're gonna have to figure out which part of the hexadecimal code applies to item probabilities.

While I was starting up my game, Mom and Dad said they were going to some steakhouse, and asked me if I wanted to come. Any other night, I would have agreed to it, but last night, I just wanted to try out my new hardware. They weren't out for very long. Upon arriving home, Dad told me that it was too crowded, but then Mom walked into the house and said that they ate really fast and finished. I didn't fall for it.

I was unable to apply any codes to Pokemon Emerald, because the batteries for the GBA were nearly dead. I did figure out why our current recharger hasn't been working, though. While I was looking for a "working" outlet to leave the thing in, Mom noticed that two of the batteries were non-rechargeable. Those two must have been draining away energy from the rechargeables, and we threw them away. Problem solved.
