It's finished!!!!!
Oct. 16th, 2008 06:51 amI have just completed the last entry to Chronicles of 7th Grade. Now I can finally put it behind me once and for all.
Is it time now to submit it for publication? Time to play Getter Love!!? Well, no. There's still that whole lineup of games I gotta play, during which I'll be (hopefully) adding missed stuff to the story. But it's not even time to start playing those games. Right now, I'm not feeling nostalgic enough for 7th Grade, plus I gotta wait for a new copy of Getter Love!! to appear on Ebay, Genki Video Games, or some other online store (or for the game to be added to the Wii Virtual Console, if it ever will be). That stupid glitch with the faces would ruin the moment if I played the ROM copy. From what I understand, the Virtual Console can't save anything that requires the Nintendo 64 Memory Pak, which means I won't be able to save memories if I play it on that...but at least that's a whole lot better than having eyes and mouths missing from everyone's faces.
In the meantime, there's a bajillion other games I could play while recharging the nostalgic spark and waiting for a game pak or VC emulation of that game. Let's look at all our options (in no particular order):
The Makendou trilogy (Super Famicom and PC-FX): Getting in some translating practice is crucial! I have just recently continued translating Makeruna! Makendou Z, which will be the most fun, because it's the only game that features Saya, and Mai is even cuter there than she is in the previous two games.
The Wario series (multiple consoles): I'm a little more than halfway done with Wario Land 4. The first two games are more notable, though, because I plan to not only get them legitimately, but buy them along with a handful of other Game Boy games each. The Virtual Boy game will probably wait as a last resort.
The Pokemon series (Game Boy Advance and Nintendo DS): Still have yet to complete Pokemon FireRed. Pokemon Ruby, Emerald, and Platinum will follow suit, and I might also play Pokemon Ranger in-between Ruby and Emerald.
Wonder Project J2 (Nintendo 64): The game I noticed in Nintendo Power during 5th Grade, found again and read about four years later, and downloaded just last year. And to think that I downloaded the translation patch just a month or so before it was actually completed.
Mon Colle Knights (Game Boy Color): Important in preparation for Monster Collection Chronicles, plus it's a good source of translation practice. Too bad that the Game Boy Color runs on batteries. At least my Nintendo DS remains plugged into the wall most of the time.
Snowboard Kids Plus (Playstation): I just found a second auction for this game on Ebay just yesterday, this time going for $110. Well, it's not as expensive as the first copy, but it's still more than I'm willing to pay for it. This one might be a last resort, if possible.
Yoshi's Island DS (Nintendo DS): Hey, I was a fan of the original Yoshi's Island on the Super NES, so let's give this one a try whenever possible.
Dark Cloud 2 (Playstation 2): I still have yet to take on the last dungeon in this game... that is, after I defeat the last main boss. Hey, it's still better than nothing to hold me over.
Dark Cloud 3 (Playstation 3): This one is scheduled to come out in March 2009. My birthday is on March 16, but I'm not sure if Mom will be able to afford a PS3. Also, will this be an anime game like both its prequels? I haven't seen any screenshots yet, and if it isn't, maybe I'll play Dark Cloud 1 just for the nostalgic value.
There's also a Getter Love!! website, accessible through Wikipedia's GL page, and that will be another good source of translation practice. But even if I spend as much time as possible playing all the games in the above lj-cut, will it be enough time for the game to reappear on Ebay? Let's hope it is.
(Oh, I almost forgot. Before you ask, no, I will not be copying entries onto this blog. Doing so would cheat myself out of royalties that I'm gonna need for Project Mai.)
