Yesterday, I found a review of this book called the Indie Game Development Survival Guide. While reading it, I read that the book says stuff about venture capitalists, but the review said that in his humble opinion, VCs are something to be avoided like the plague. I wouldn't be so sure, as doing certain things for Project Mai (such as maxing out the graphics, or getting permission to translate and co-package the first three Makendou games with it) are gonna be pretty expensive. If anything, I'd say that mainstream publishers are to be avoided at all costs; once you form a deal with those guys, they're free to saddle you up with their own game projects, or even ask that you stop working on your own games if they don't see them as profitable enough. Still, I'm gonna have to give the book a read in order to plan something out.

I just looked for the review that I read just yesterday, but can't seem to find it. Well, I did use Mom's account to order it from Amazon.com. We agreed that she would buy me something in return for helping her and Dad with those plants the previous day.

Anyway, what I'm thinking, is that I'll just get a team of people to work on some version of the game to at least present online. Top-level graphics won't matter for this version, although voice acting is still a must (and will hopefully be easier to implement). Even if the shareware version's graphics look something like StarFox or Doom for the Super NES, what really matters is that at least Mai and co. get any fourth game, and that enough people like to play it that there will finally be some fanfiction for the Makeruna! Makendou series. If enough people like to play the shareware version, I'll look into hiring a mainstream developer to spice it way up with super-enhanced graphics and maybe some new ideas, and then releasing it on a console.
