Aug. 27th, 2005 08:08 amYesterday, we all went on a boat ride, including Grandma. While we were on the water, Marie was riding on a separate smaller boat attatched to the catboat by a rope. At one point, as a joke, Dad undid the rope and left Marie's boat sitting on the water, and then came back for her and retied the rope. From there on, Marie got on the catboat with the rest of us.
Later on, before we landed, someone who soon introduced himself as Brian Kennedy came on another boat with his son, and struck up a conversation with Dad. During their chat, Dad told Mr. Kennedy that the boat I thought he was the one that started actually originated in Connecticut. As soon as Mr. Kennedy took off, I asked Dad why he said that. He said that it actually dates back to World War I, and he eventually took it down and built it back up.
Grandma also noticed the word "Portofino" under the NAUTICA logo on my shirt. She commented on it, and said that it's the name of some Italian restaurant she went to in Bermuda. Also, we saw a plane carrying a banner that said "GET YOUR HEAD OUT OF THE SAND." I mentioned that if someone's face was in the sand, they obviously wouldn't see the message.
After that, Marie took a practice sail to the shore, and then came back to get me, and then Brian. Mom and Dad then came to the shore with us, but Grandma decided to have a nap on the catboat. The rest of us had a walk down the beach, to the same beach we went to the other day, but we didn't even have a dip in the water this time. Mom did pick up a tiny crab that camoflauged itself in the sand, though, which she showed us.
When we got home, I didn't feel like doing anything except checking my emails or otherwise just relaxing. No manga, no DVD's, nothing.
The following link contains a conversation I had with Mom later on, while we were home:
