Jan. 19th, 2006 07:57 amI finished In the Shadow of Chaos yesterday morning.
Two nights ago, Mom made butterscotch brownies with pecans in them. Yesterday, while me and Dad were both home, Dad said in a half-kidding tone that Mom made those for him only, and when I looked at him, he's like "What?" However, when I asked Mom, she said that he's only fooling us so that he might get more for himself.
Last night during dinner, Mom told us about some patients in the waiting room who were literally sleeping on the couches. From what she told us, they weren't even little kids, they were older and taking up more space, plus they had blankets with them. Mom told them to put the blankets back in their car, and they gave her a hard time about it before actually doing so. She said that they were the same family that blurted out "We're watching All My Children!" the previous day when she asked everyone else if they wanted to watch the news (no one else said anything at that time). Dad and I told her that she should talk to them about consideration for their fellow patients, and she said she considered telling them that they're in a hospital, not a motel.
Later on, Mom made more brownies, but after they came out of the oven, Dad put a toothpick with a paper sign saying "Dad's only," and he taped a note saying "Also Dad's" over the cake plate cover where the previous brownies are being stored.
