Jul. 2nd, 2006 08:38 amLast night, CBS aired this movie called Deep Impact, about a comet that strikes Earth and causes near-extinction for the planet. I stayed up to watch it, and it ran until 11:30 at night. Marie was still on the computer when it ended, and this morning, I was able to get up at 5:30, even though I went to bed so late last night.
I remember that news article about the impact that was said to take place on 2029 or 2036. It said that if we get enough people to master mathematics, physics, astronomy, and engineering, we'll succeed in maintaining civilization as it is. Unfortunately, I barely passed my astronomy class last year with a D, but maybe if I had taken it during a fall or spring semester, I would probably fare better.
