Marie spent a good portion of yesterday at Scott's house. When they came home, Scott's sister Sara came with them. I was already in bed at the time, but I woke up to meet her. I introduced myself to her, and Mom asked her how old she was. She said she's 12, which is a coincidence since I'm 21. Mom commented that if either of us had dyslexia, we'd think we were the same age.

Game: Sapphire
Player: Brendan

Treecko:
-Was selected to learn HM Cut, so that I could battle the trainers on Route 116.
-Much later on, was taught TM 28 (Dig, which replaced Pursuit), so that I could open the Sealed Chamber on Route 134.

Lotad:
-Evolved into Lombre on Route 114. The moves it learns as Lombre are much more worthwhile than those that it learns as Lotad.
-A second one hatched from an Egg while I explored the Shoal Cave, and evolved into Lombre on the same day.

Zigzagoon:
-Was selected to learn HM Surf.
-Learned Pin Missile (which it can only learn as Zigzagoon) while I battled May in Lilycove City, and evolved into Linoone after that battle ended. (Later on, Pin Missile was forgotten in favor of Rest.)
-Was taught HM Strength (in place of Slash) in order to allow myself to leave Aron (my original Strength learner) behind when it was time to navigate Victory Road.
-Stole a Heart Scale from a Luvdisc (by using Covet) that I fished up in Ever Grande City and subsequently captured.
-Reached exactly Level 50 while I battled the Elite Four. (I would've brought him with me to the Battle Tower after taking care of unfinished business in Hoenn, but I decided to just give the game a rest after capturing Rayquaza. I might continue playing it, though, after I order Pokemon Fire Red or Leaf Green on Ebay.)
-Was selected to participate in the Battle Tower, after Heracross proved useless there.

Makuhita: Evolved into Hariyama during my expidition in Mt. Pyre. Knock Off was just a few levels away for it to learn, but only gets bumped up one level anyway after evolution. Also deserves credit for participating in the Tough Contests of all four contest ranks prior to evolution.

Geodude:
-Was selected to learn HM Rock Smash.
-Participated in all four ranks in the Tough Contest.
-Brought against the Elite Four, but never did any real fighting during those battles. Did spend one turn in front, but only to allow Registeel to recover his attack and defense power after having used Superpower. Subsequently learned Explosion (to replace Self-Destruct) and evolved into Graveler; Double Edge is not a move worth learning in his case.
-Selected for the Battle Tower.

Skitty: I captured of these at Route 116 (and taught her HM Flash), but this one later laid an Egg. The newly hatched male Skitty was later on exposed to the only Moon Stone in the game, evolving him into Delcatty. That means that the original Skitty cannot evolve, and this one can no longer learn any new natural moves.

Tentacool: Captured on Route 107 or 108, and was taught TM 10 (Hidden Power) after I battled the rest of the trainers on the ocean routes and proceeded to Slateport City.

Castform: Came with only one damaging attack (Powder Snow) when I received him in the Weather Institute; its other three moves were Sunny Day, Rain Dance, and Hail. However, Powder Snow was the very attack that knocked out May's Shroomish in one hit (albeit after having cast Hail first), but sadly, this Pokemon was never used again.

Doduo: Captured in the Safari Zone. Was later on selected to learn HM Fly when the time came to awaken Registeel.

Vulpix: Got lucky and learned Return (the very TM Prof. Cozmo gave me in Fallarbor Town) after being captured in Mt. Pyre. It's a shame, though, that he was only taken out of Lannette's PC that one time, so he was never able to make it very useful.

Staryu:
-Fished up and captured in the threshold between Lilycove City and Route 124.
-Came with a free Stardust, just like the second one captured in Pokemon Crystal.
-Selected to learn HM Waterfall after I obtained the Rain Badge in Sootopolis (just like in Crystal).
-Brought through Victory Road, which required a Pokemon with HM Flash. This one is the only Pokemon that can learn both Waterfall and Flash, and is indeed the lucky one to learn Flash for the time being.

Corphish: Fished up and captured on Route 117 after I obtained the Super Rod. Was supposed to evolve into Crawdaunt after leveling up once, but was only one level away from learning Taunt. I let it remain a Corphish until it learned that move (which was while I was hunting for a Bagon in Meteor Falls). Having it evolve at that time benefited him, because he becomes a part-Dark type, which in this case, protected him from the Psychic attacks from wild Lunatone.

Wailmer:
-Fished up and captured on Route 123, somewhere around Level 26.
-Was selected to learn HM Dive, which although would give him less of a choice as to which moves to learn as it levelled up, would also help him to eventually evolve into a Wailord.
-By the time I needed him to evolve, he was already at level 39, and I had two Rare Candies in my inventory. One was obtained from Route 119 (after Staryu learned Waterfall), and the other was obtained on Route 133. This allowed him to also learn Water Spout (to replace Water Pulse) at Level 41, before evolving.
-Was brought up against the Elite Four. I couldn't bring him through Victory Road, though, because I needed Staryu instead to use both Waterfall and Flash.
-Was selected to participate in the Battle Tower

Snorunt: Captured in the Shoal Cave. Got lucky to learn TM 10 (Hidden Power), which this time, I got for free from a woman in Fortree City. Not exactly a stellar TM for it to learn, but it did kill a little bit of time while I waited for the Shoal Salt and Shoal Shells to regenerate.

Bagon: Had to reset the game twice to capture this one, as I was trying to capture him with one of two Nest Balls. On my third try, I indeed had only used up one Nest Ball. The other ball was used successfully on a Sandshrew that I encountered on my way to Regirock's lair.

Regice: Got lucky enough to be tagged to learn TM 06 (Toxic). Usually, I just leave TMs behind unless there's only a limited chance to obtain them or I receive them automatically, so this TM was still somewhere on the Fiery Path. I needed Regice with me (so I could teach it the TM in question, duh!), and Aron was also required in order to move the boulders. As a bonus for bringing Aron with me, I would not need to go back to a Pokecenter to retrieve him when I got to Regirock's chamber. Regice also deserves credit for participating in the Elite Four battles.

Regirock, Registeel, and Rayquaza: Each of these three legendary Pokemon required that I turn my Game Boy Advance off and on again and again (as one would expect), but when I did become successful, I had only used up one Ultra Ball on each of them. Registeel was also selected to fight against the Elite Four.

Cacnea: After having emerged from Regirock's lair, I still had six Ultra Balls in my bag, along with one Poke Ball which I picked up on the beach in Lilycove City. I took a risk and used the Poke Ball, and got lucky enough to capture this Pokemon successfully.

Luvdisc: Fished up in Ever Grande City. Linoone used Strength to damage her, then Covet to do slightly more damage (also obtaining a Heart Scale with that move). I then used a Net Ball to capture her, but of course, she was never retrieved from Lannette's PC.

Final record in Battle Tower: 25
