Jan. 4th, 2008 06:46 amI started a new game on Pokemon Pearl yesterday, but there was a Pokemon that doesn't come out during daytime. I had to wait until 8:00 P.M. to catch it, and I still had ten more hours to wait to continue playing Pearl.
Later on, Marie came home and started working on her homework, which meant that I couldn't play any ROMs. What better time to finally start watching Divergence Eve, after a whole year of having it (and Otaku no Video) still sealed. I did invite Brian and Marie to come watch it with me, even though they were busy doing stuff, and not surprisingly, they declined. Oh well. Instead of being boring to sit through something that didn't require my active involvement, it actually felt refreshing to have been watching something other than Mon Colle Knights for the first time in such a while. I watched two episodes, and intend to watch some more today. I even mentioned it during dinner, and told everyone that I would consider asking for some more anime DVDs for my birthday this year.
If anyone would create a Knuckles Chaotix hack featuring Tiara instead of Mighty, that would be cool. Someone once made a hack replacing Mighty with Sonic, which can be found at Hacking Cult. I might get around to working on such a hack sometime, but not right now when I've just gotten started playing Pokemon Pearl. I remember how much of a chore it was to change Sonic's sprites to represent Tiara in Sonic the Hedgehog 1, but it was at least good that I was able to do it in the middle of a school semester, which is when I'm normally unable to do a lot of stuff. Also, there are at least two fanfics on Fanfiction.net where Cream the Rabbit becomes the new member of the Chaotix. If anyone makes a fic where Tiara becomes a new one, I'd be glad to read it, especially what with Espio, Charmy, and Vector being the only members of Chaotix since Sonic Heroes.
Finally, something about both Penny Arcade and the Angry Video Game Nerd: like the AVGN, Tycho and Gabe (the two main characters of PA) are two more people that I feel like whenever I mention any video game in this blog (which is all the time). Actually, unlike me, the two bickering friends are usually caught up with the times in gaming (as is my brother Brian), although they sometimes refer to older games such as the Sega 32X game Kolibri; the only anime-style game I ever read either of them refer to is Grandia III. Also, billybandit from the VGMusic forum proved that I'm not such a nerd after all, because I haven't heard of the Wii Virtual Console until a few days ago even though it's been out for more than a year. However, another thing I have in common with the AVGN is that whenever I do mention any game (especially when I'm using more than one as an example, I mentally picture a clip, screenshot, or the cover art of that game; the Nerd sometimes does this, for example, when he referred to Bubble Bobble in his double Simpsons game review, Snatcher and Knuckles Chaotix in his Sega 32X review, or multiple movie sequels at the end of this double Ghostbusters game review.
Penny Arcade might have been something that reinforced me as much more of a gaming fan than an anime fan, but Gabe mentions in this episode of PA that he and Tycho had a (now-deceased) friend who used to enjoy anime. Well, that's interesting, to see the first reference to anime in a mostly video-game-oriented series.
