Brian was able to wake up yesterday at a regular time instead of sleeping until mid-afternoon. For this reason, I spread my stuff out on my own bed and played Pokemon Pearl there instead of on the futon; I didn't want to bother Brian while he was working on his computer. The previous day, Mom had to wake him up to get ready to leave home, and that has to be what shifted his internal clock. He did go to some party last night, though, and when I checked the top bunk bed in the middle of last night, he wasn't there. Was he sleeping over at someone's house?

Cleffa in Mt. Coronet are most abundant in the morning. It was already mid-day yesterday after I captured a Meditite and a Chingling, and there's really no point trying to capture a particular Pokemon when it's less abundant. To kill time for the rest of the day, I gave the Underground a try for the first time, and what do you know, it kicks ass! I was able to get some pretty cool stuff, including two Armor Fossils (only one is required to obtain Shieldon; the other will be sold as soon as possible).

Last year, when I was playing Pokemon Emerald, I stopped mid-game because I ended up cheating. What I did, was that I kept battling some trainers on a particular route, again and again. So, why does that constitute cheating while this mining game doesn't? The reasons are as follow:

1. I thought at the time that the number of times you can battle each trainer is limited to whenever they're available (similar to in Gold, Silver, or Crystal). That was a mistake; they're always available whenever you're in their vicinity. With the Underground, I already know that you can mine unlimited spheres and treasures, and I limit myself to either whenever I need to kill time or whenever I need something in particular that can only be obtained there.

2. I need to prepare as much as possible for in case Adam wants to play Capture the Flag when we visit him and his folks.

3. With repeat trainers, you already know that you're going to battle stronger versions of the same Pokemon that the trainer in question had earlier. In the Underground, you never know what you're gonna dig up at each location.

This morning, I woke up at around 4:50 A.M. specifically to look for a Cleffa. The first time I ran into one, I used up all my regular Poke Balls after wearing its HP down as much as possible, and all of them failed. I reset the game, and I rolled a double-5 before I could encounter a second one. I then encountered one anyway while passing through Mt. Coronet, and I only used up two Balls this time. Well, good enough.
