Jan. 11th, 2008 05:28 amI bought Pokemon Ruby and FireRed on Ebay yesterday. I read in my Pokedex guide that some National Dex Pokemon require a particular game pak in the Nintendo DS's GBA game slot. It didn't say anything about porting those Pokemon from that particular game, though. I'm glad I found out about this early, considering that I missed the opportunity to buy an E-Reader for Pokemon LeafGreen before it was too late.
As to whether I'll transfer Pokemon from those two game paks after getting the National Dex, I haven't decided yet. I'm used to raising my own Pokemon with my own style (e.g. only evolving if I either roll a double-5 or if the Pokemon in question has no more moves worth learning in its current state). However, freebies were never possible until Pokemon Diamond and Pearl (or the Nintendo DS itself) were introduced. Also, both games I got were used, and there was a chance that I might have bought brand new copies.
Another thing I read in Pokedex was that Regigigas can only be obtained if you transfer Regice, Regirock, or Registeel from a Ruby, Sapphire, or Emerald game pak. Since I stopped playing Emerald midgame, I might use that instead of stealing from Sapphire. Battling the remaining three gym leaders will be a hassle, though, but still a lot better than starting from the beginning.
