Right now, I've got two things at the same time reminding me of the good old days of 7th grade (1998-99).

The first is that right now, I'm taking a history class that discusses some of the same stuff that Ms. Darson taught us about early that year. Right now, I'm learning about New York before the Revolutionary War, which involved things like the Indian fur trades, the administration of Peter Stuyvesant, and his treatment of the Quakers. (The homework assignments were so much easier back then. All I had to do was read pages from my textbooks and answer a few questions, but hey, I'm in college these days. Of course the work is much harder.)

The other thing that reminds me of that nolstalgic year is, ironically, something that was never even released in the United States, and that I found out about just months ago: Getter Love!! for the Nintendo 64. I remember playing plenty of games on both the Super NES and the N64 (and some on Matthew's Playstation, which I didn't enjoy as much but went along with anyway). The N64, the Game Boy Color, and the Playstation were the current consoles at the time. Among all the N64 games that either me, Brian, or both of us played that year (or maybe just read about in Nintendo Power), it's interesting to think of a version of reality in which Getter Love!!, which was released in Japan the same year, did in fact get released in the United States.

Another noteworthy thing about my life in 7th grade was that, back then, I kept track of exact dates and stuff that happened on each day, and even exact quotes by various people on particular days. While I was in 10th grade, Marie one time rented Mario Party 3 and Snowboard Kids 2, the latter which I played back in 7th. Having played such a game that I cherished beforehand inspired me to put all those memories into text on Microsoft Word. At first, I did that mainly to get it off my chest, but as I progressed, I found myself just forcing myself to keep at it, and I eventually couldn't go any further.

It is no coincidence that my first Monster Collection Chronicles fic is due to take place during the summer of 1999. Originally, I was planning to write a fic involving all twenty-four Knights, which would take place throughout the whole year. However, I eventually found out that back then, people under age 13 weren't even allowed to own an account on LiveJournal, which is what the fic (and Book 2.5: The Lives of Twenty-Four) would've relied on.

It's been years since I've worked on the document, which I titled Chronicles of 7th Grade, and which the rest of my family enjoyed reading back then. I could continue writing it if I wanted to, and with the aforementioned inspiring factors, I might just do so, but it probably won't have the same novelty that it had when I started writing it.
