Feb. 20th, 2008 07:28 amRight now on Ebay, we have:
-That PC-FX auction w/ all compatible games
-one auction for Getter Love!! (Nintendo 64)
-a Nintendo 64 Passport Plus (for playing Nintendo 64 games from any region)
-another auction for an N64 Passport Plus III
-two auctions for Game Tengoku (Sega Saturn)
-a new auction for Mon Colle Knights (Game Boy Color)
-and finally, new auctions for each volume of the MCK manga
After having found those two auctions for Game Tengoku, I considered whether I should buy it or download it. A physical copy of the game would also require not only a physical Saturn, but also a modchip to play games from all regions. Installing a modchip isn't like inserting a memory card; you actually have to pry into your console and solder it in. I shouldn't have to go into anymore detail about it, because I already stated the cons of buying a physical game console the morning after I downloaded Nemu64 and Wonder Project J2 (which was early last November). And while a translation patch has already been written for WPJ2, and while there isn't nearly as much text to translate in Game Tengoku, I would sometime like to write a voice-acting hack of that game (and for Makeruna Makendou Z). Japanese voice acting is just nervewrecking, and I prefer American voice acting so much better.
So, I downloaded an ISO copy of Game Tengoku when I got home. Check. I tried various Saturn emulators on Zophar's Domain. None of them seemed to work, but then I found out that they all require a BIOS file, which was also the case with the Sega CD and 32X. I downloaded a Japanese Saturn BIOS file. Check. I then opened up one of the Saturn emulators that I didn't try, I installed the BIOS, it still doesn't work, and trying to close down that one in particular doesn't do jack-shit. It's gonna be minimized on our computer for a whole month before Brian comes home to fix it, but at least it's not causing any real problems for our computer, unlike Daemon Tools. Other Saturn emulators didn't cause any problems like this, nor did FCE Ultra, SNES9X, Gens, Nemu64, or any of the three current PC-FX emulators. Mom told me to lay off on downloading another emulator until Brian comes home, but hey, at least I got a Game Tengoku ISO and the Japanese Saturn BIOS for when I do download one.
