Rant #4 The lack of anime titles and anime games that we had in the 80's and most of the 90's. (Evident by my previous thread "Former Censorship of anime-style games; find the thread here, if you feel like reading it again.)

Anyway, today marks the tenth anniversary of the first time I ever played Snowboard Kids 2 on the Nintendo 64. To sum that particular day up, I was playing Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time for most of the morning. Then, Mom brought me over to Matthew's house, and while I was there, she and Brian went to Blockbuster, where Brian rented Snowboard Kids 2 for me and Vigilante 8 for himself. That day not only April Fools Day of that year, but also Holy Thursday (final Thursday before Easter) and the first day of Spring Break that year.

Yesterday, Psychology was cancelled because Dr. Thornton had to go to a funeral in either North Dakota or South Dakota (don't remember which). Not only that, but Mom previously couldn't get me a bus going home, which meant that I would have even more time at school until Mom got off of work. It's too bad I didn't have my history textbook with me, since I was given another homework essay in History. However, I did have one of my books for my History research paper, which deals with John Peter Zenger, and I was also able to set up an appointment at the writing lab to go over my Health paper, along with spending some other time to download a few more hacking utilities.

Speaking of hacking, everyone on the ROMhacking.net forum is right. The 32-bit PC-FX is a terrible place to learn how to hack ROMs or ISOs, and chances are, so is the 16-bit Genesis. The 8-bit NES is a much better console to start with. Even though I have no plans for any games on that particular console, there are assembly tools readily available for it, and its CPU uses a much simpler assembly language than any 32-bit console. In this case, I might toy around with Zelda II: The Adventure of Link, since that game's readily available on my hard drive.

Finally, wanna know what would make a great Angry Video Game Nerd/Penny Arcade crossover gag? Combine the end of the Nerd's Sega 32X video with Gabe and Tycho's recurring references to Kolibri as "arguably the best hummingbird-based shooter on the 32X." After the Nerd puts the 32X out of its misery, one of the two characters from PA might, for example, hold a copy of the game and tell him that he never did review it. The other PA character would state the aforementioned quote. (In his news archive, James Rolfe did make a post regarding fanart on 3/21/08, and said "Enough Mii's, Simpson's, or South Park characters of me. And putting my face on a game box is being done to death too. [etc]", but at least this idea is somewhat more creative than that.)
