Jun. 9th, 2008 07:52 amMom brought me to the library to pick up that Kanji guide. As it turns out when I started reading it, it doesn't have the stroke-count method for finding characters, only the radical method. Well, I was able to figure out what that was, but there are still some characters that don't appear in the book. In particular, a character resembling a cross with an "x" running through the bottom is used twice during the third conversation of Makeruna! Makendou Z. It's a simple, five-stroke character; why can't I find it anywhere?
Also, even though I'm not planning on getting any new video game consoles any time soon, I should comment on one in particular for the Wii, called We Ski. This one stood out on the shelf when Mom brought me to Target yesterday. Even though the characters look like plastic toys, at least they're cute and are still anime-style. I decided to look it up online when I got home, but as it turns out, none of the characters have names. Even though Snowboard Kids didn't have any story to follow along with, at least the characters in that game had names. Yeah, the whole point of We Ski (a.k.a. Family Ski) is that you can make your own characters to play online as, as well as using the default characters or playing on a TV set. Still, the fact that even the default characters (apparently) don't have names is disappointing, especially since one of them has a very similar design to Nancy from Snowboard Kids 2.
