Sep. 8th, 2008 07:16 amTwo things I should note before I get started: One, I only have a week and a half left of Chronicles of 7th Grade left to write down; and two, even before 2/7/08, when I first wrote about Co7G, I did have a sneak peek at Getter Love!! I didn't actually play the game, but I did watch the intro and read the first dialogue of the game. For some odd reason, the character who was talking... his eyes and mouth weren't visible.
Just two nights ago, I was looking around Google, under the keywords "Getter Love", and I saw the same glitch in some screenshots in MobyGames (http://www.mobygames.com/game/n64/getter-love-panda-love-unit/screenshots). Good thing it wasn't all of them, but this is obviously not how I would want to be playing the game when the big moment comes.
I then sent an email to Kristina Potts (the person who reviewed the game), and the next morning, she said that it's definitely a problem with emulation. She has a legitimate copy of the game, and this hasn't happened to her once. No surprise, since there were also some graphical issues on Wonder Project J2 when I played that game on Nemu64 last year. (Well, at least seeing different graphics in the margins from the rest of the screen isn't such a big deal.)
So, today or tomorrow, I'm gonna try different emulators at school to see which one works best with Getter Love!! However, if a legitimate copy does come up on Ebay again, I'll be sure to bid on it. That way, it won't need to be tested beforehand, and I can feel like I'm actually playing it back when I was in 7th grade, back when our family had no Internet to download ROMs from. I'm not sure how likely it will come up on Ebay again, but playing all the games I used to play back in 7th Grade (and translating Makeruna! Makendou Z beforehand) should provide enough time for that to happen.
