I was expecting this to happen.
Mar. 7th, 2009 06:41 amMarie has come home last night.
Two nights ago, Jake had declared once and for all that he wants nothing to do with my Pokemon ficseries.
His last gripe: That Cyrus's Dark-type Honchkrow and Weavile would be able to beat the Psychic-type Uxie, even though Uxie is a Legendary Pokemon.
The way he sees it, any Pokemon that's legendary can beat any non-legendary Pokemon regardless of level differences or type advantages. To me, though, the word "Legendary" means that a certain Pokemon has only one of its own species in the entire world. It has nothing to do with omnipotence, and Rotom (who starts at Level 15) is the most notable example of a weak Legendary. The only reason why most Legendaries are all-powerful is because they start out at level 50, 70, or 80 to begin with, and any Pokemon raised to that level range damn well can compete with them. I've played Pokemon Red, Crystal, FireRed, LeafGreen, Ruby, Sapphire, Emerald, and Pearl, and in every single one of them, whichever Pokemon I select to learn HM Surf naturally levels up to nearly 50 or even higher, since they spend so much more time in the party than most of my other Pokemon.
Up until two nights ago, I've been filling Jake in about my progress with the plot, and he's been giving me his ideas for stuff to make happen. I enjoyed it while it lasted, but on the other hand, whenever I came up with stuff on my own (such as Ellen and Cyrus battling each other as giants--and that will be explained in my new pic's description), I gotta admit, I felt somewhat insecure about telling him about it. I mean, for most of the ideas that he was critical of, he usually had a reason that I actually deemed valid. For example, I once toyed with the idea of Team Rocket creating king-sized PokeBall-like containers which capture multiple Pokemon of the same species within a given distance and can only be opened with HM Strength (yes, inspired by Dr. Eggman's animal capsules from the earlier Sonic the Hedgehog games). He said that this would create a huge plothole, because Master Balls (which capture one Pokemon each without fail) are so hard to make that that's why there's only one in each region (not counting the prize ones from lotteries). In that case, I thought Jake was actually right, and in other cases, the two of us were able to reach an agreement. However, relating to a certain idea of being able to mine gemstones from the Underground and let Pokemon hold them, all he said was that this would be a bad idea because it serves no plot-related purposes, only my own interests. That one's staying, because the ficseries also serves to simulate a game; if I were making this into an actual game, I would incorporate it into the gameplay.
In any case, I'm not gonna beg Jake to continue supporting me. In fact, I feel somewhat liberated now that he refuses to have anything to do with the ficseries. However, I will apply most of the ideas that he had already provided me, even though a few minor things will be changed the way I see fit. When I finish Ellen the Giantess and host it on DeviantArt, I'm gonna include a basic description of the ficseries in the pic's description and see if anyone else (namely, anyone who can tolerate my final decisions better) wants to collaborate with me, and I'll also be sure to describe it on the Serebii.net forum. Anyone who wants to talk to me through MSN or email about it will get the same progress updates that I've been giving Jake up until recently.
