Welcome to my life waaaaay back in 7th Grade! These were the days before we had iPods, cell phones, or DVDs, before my family had any Internet with which to download ROMs or read fanfiction, before I had even heard of anime, and before Nickelodeon had started giving me mental problems. Back then, the current video game consoles we had were the Nintendo 64, the Sony Playstation, and the Game Boy Color (only a few months away from release). (The Saturn was on its way to an early retirement, but Sega was just a year away from launching its successor, the Dreamcast.)

Wanna know what was really popular back then? If you're guessing South Park, you'd be right too, but that was second only to POKEMON! Back then, Pokemon had been the hottest thing in town, compared to today when it's just another franchise. The only Pokemon games we had (for the most part) were Red and Blue for the original Game Boy, but the trading cards and the anime series were also super-popular among kids back then. I wasn't interested at the time, but not a day would go by that someone wouldn't ask to trade card x for card y. With the anime, though, I was mostly unable to watch it, because I had to catch my bus right before its designated airing time.

And without further ado...

Unfortunately, I was unable to contact Martin, Libby, or Matthew last night, but I'll keep trying. I'll be especially sure to phone Matthew up when I get to the day when he and I met for the first time.

The first game on my roster is Super Mario Bros. 3, but I didn't start playing that one until the 4th week of the year. This is one of the longer entries of Chronicles of 7th Grade, which is why it stands alone; the shorter entries will be grouped together with other short entries or with any long ones they precede, so it's gonna be a short while until I get to that point. (Good thing, because I only got around to buying a copy of Diddy Kong Racing last night, and it's gonna take at least a few days to get here.)

Meanwhile, I'm sure in the mood for a Pokemon game, especially after reading some news confirming Pokemon Gold and Silver being remade in Japan. And yes, I did promise myself that I wouldn't start playing Pokemon Platinum until sometime closer to Christmas, but I still have some stuff left to do in Emerald anyway. (And, no, I will not buy any copies of Diamond or Pearl to trade Pokemon onto Platinum from, because I'm already gonna be porting quite a handful of Pokemon to Platinum with the PAL Park, but I might try that if I ever have any reason to play Diamond, since I won't be using the PAL Park then.)
