Jun. 21st, 2009 06:39 amThe new remote came, and it *kinda* seems to work. When I press the "VCR" or "DVD button, the light on the unit switches respectively, and when I press Play, the respective light goes on. But, even though I can view the VHS screen on the TV, I can't switch between that and the DVD screen. I asked Mom about it, and she said that Brian might have mis-wired the back. Brian said that he'll have a look at it and see whether it's that or Funai just sent us the wrong remote.
Yesterday, I was about to play Tempest 2000 on Project Tempest, but the game was too slow and choppy. Looking for clues on Google reveals that Project Tempest requires a 2-gigabyte processor to run properly. I assumed that my free laptop had that, so I tried it on that, and no it doesn't. I asked Brian, and he said that he's surprised that it's still even functional, considering how old it is.
That obviously means that said laptop won't be usable for copying the Makeruna! Makendou Z footage that I had taped. But anyway, I'm still going to use our main computer, and I'll use the laptop for downloading emulators and other shit, because I don't have much to lose on that thing anyway, and I'm eventually going to buy myself a better one anyway. Most of the time, it's going to be off, because to leave it running would be only one more thing driving our electric bill up and heating up the planet.
So anyway, I used the laptop to download a different Jaguar emulator called T2K, and used that to play the game. The speed tends to fluctuate, but at least it is much smoother.
