Got that tree down yesterday morning. Dad now wants me to start sawing it up starting this morning. Good thing it's not so thick as that tree in the ivy patch.

So, my friend on Youtube (first mentioned here) has been desperately trying to play Chip-chan Kick on any of the three emulators that even play PC-FX games. Up until just a couple of days ago, I only tried to communicate to him through PMs. Just two nights ago, though, I thought I might give Xe a second chance.

Well, using my Mac, I had no problem downloading the .cue sheets and the emulator. Not the case with the .bin file, which I was unable to archive on it. So, I spent the entire evening while Mom and Dad were out watching a movie, trying to download it on my old laptop. That thing is enough of a pain in the ass to use, but each time I finally did get to actually downloading it, all it does is go to a random completion percentage, and then just pretend to still be downloading it. I went through this whole ordeal three times, giving it some hours on the third time while I slept, and when I woke up in the middle of the night, it had already timed out.

(Would've liked to smash that thing up with a sledgehammer like I did with our old VCR a few years ago, but Mom suggested instead that we take it somewhere to have its working parts recycled.)

So anyway, Mom brought me to the library yesterday to attempt to download it and save it to my flash drive. Well, at least I'm able to visit ROM sites there, but the purpose of doing so was defeated: The hard drives don't read flash drives. One of the receptionists even tried plugging mine into her own computer, and it wouldn't read it. Nor can I email the Winzip file to myself through Mom's Gmail account.

(Mom suggested that my flash drive might be old and need to be replaced. This turned out not to be the case when I tested it on our own computer.)

Finally, I tried downloading an ISO copy of Makeruna! Makendou Z onto my Mac, and there was no problem with that. However, whereas the CCK .bin file was stored in a Winzip file, the MMZ file just stands alone.

So, I've decided that it might be best to wait until Brian comes home before I finally try downloading it on our main computer, so that he can fix it if it does indeed cause problems. In the meantime, I've already brought up the issue on the Rising Stuff forum, will also ask on the ROMhacking.net forum if I don't get answers first, and am also going to try downloading the .bin files for every PC-FX ISO to see if there's a correlation between Winzips and problems with use or if it's just that one game.

(That game sure looked interesting too, after I watched the gameplay videos. It is available on Ebay, but not for less than $99.99, which I'm not willing to spend on any game while I'm stuck with more or less than $500 without any source of income. On the plus side, that would be one less distraction for me while I do stuff like finishing the MCC prologue.)
